  1. Very bad experience with Scan Cafe. Not done in over 2 months. B.S. excuses. Basically lost in India. Did finally get them back, but would never use them again!!!!
  2. It's the kind of image that makes you wish you were there to see for yourself.

    Sorceress

This image is also a reminder for me that perception is shaped by what’s inside your head, or more often in my case, what’s not!

    Sorceress

My initial impression was, why does she have lips like Madonna, and everything else “says” Medieval. So I did a quick Google. Wow, was I wrong! Lipstick was a sign of Witchcraft back then, and even today some in the Catholic church think it’s unGodly. Even more interesting was how the history of lipstick attitudes was like reading the history of women. So now the lips are my favorite part of the image.

    Net

It’s stimulating and tranquil at the same time!

    Good lighting!

    Soul Nature

I'm a big fan of you art! But for me the model looks "out of place".

    Verdant Valley

One last note. Topaz Labs has noise reducing software, DeNoise AI, that can make a lot of the older images and scans printable. Helps on the new stuff too, I'm told.

    Radiant-B&W

They're both nice, but I think this one stimulates thoughts of what could be. Like adding some other element to form a relationship with the church. Simple example would be fresh snow with foot prints headed to the church. Of course one could say that the chaotic tire tracks contrasting with the peaceful church and radiant sky is already a relationship, but I'm not feeling that. Or you could take you car and spinout mirror image lines going to the church. This may all sound silly, but thinking your photo, will help me think about my next one in a different way.

    Verdant Valley

I was adding noise with P.S. Elements (to cover up bad editing) and discovered Elements has a filter for fixing blocking. Filter>Noise>Reduce Noise>check the remove Jpeg Artifacts. Don't know if it works.

    Looks more Holy Devine!

    Radiant!

Go for all Black and White. You're almost there! :-)
  13. I think this is a graphically stronger image than the other, and it definitely puts out the “dry lake’ vibe better. I think typically the Master large format photographers of this style would wait for a more dramatic cloudy sky. In fact sometimes clouds seem to be the main subject. For example Clyde Butcher.

    Verdant Valley

I think it's blocking artifacts from JPEG compression. Must be an occasional software fart.

I can tell whose work this is without looking. It reflects a way of thinking.

Much better, but I can still see them. That's because I'm currently preparing a bunch of old scans for printing that I go over inch by inch at 200%, and found the same "gridding" on one of them. Now I'm paranoid and look for gridding every where! :-)

    Mermaid

For me there seems to be a reversal of relationships, where the HagFish/ Sailor is answering the plea for help from the beautiful hand (mermaid?) with “Go to Hell”. Maybe it's a variant of the Frankenstien complex (if you don’t love me I’ll make you hate me), or in this case if you don’t think I’m beautiful I’ll hate beauty. I have no idea what Flipper is doing. Anyway, if Grimm had seen this, it would have inspired another fairy tale.

    Angel

The graphics are first rate, but I wonder why angel is looking at me instead of the lovers. I hope I didn't do any thing wrong because she looks like the kind of angel you don't want to piss off!

    Old Forest

I think this photographer develops a spiritual connection before consummating the image.

    Hungry Groundhog

Yes, I like this one better. O little more DOF would have been nice.

    One world

They seem tame/shy enough, but I saw video of one that was trapped. It would have scarred a Tasmanian Devil. Given the chance, it’s new name would be Fingerchuck.

    Speedtrap

So does that mean if they catch you speeding, they take away your keys and leave you trapped in the valley? I’m not familiar with the area, but none of the pictures I’ve seen of Death Valley have fit the name as well as this one. I can’t think of any improvements except maybe some foreground skeletons.

    One world

Now that’s a CLOSE UP! It’s nice to see the detail in the fur, which seems to disappear on all my more distant shots. The ones around here head for their hole when seen. How did you get so close? I can’t believe people use these cute furry critters for target practice. BTW, I saw one yesterday for the first time since winter began.

    Cedar Waxwing

This bird really knows how to pick an interesting and colorful foreground and background!
