  1. @RickN ...Ditto what Bruce said; That first trio looked as real as it gets.. waiting for the caption 1944 Belgium 1st division etc (ranks and mens names) . @James; that portrait might be Eric Clapton....umm might be
  2. @RickD Wow Park #5 .. shades of (modernist) Paul Strand? Excellent!
  3. Ahh Great posts.. Summer is closing I am showing pics from earlier this year.. I'd have to look at the dates??? These pics were done using the (merger Zeiss/Voigländer) meager Vitessa 1000. A rather small camera..it boasted an RF, a CdS lightmeter, Prontor 1000 shutter, flash hotshoe, but best of all the 2.8 42mm Tessar . I am generally pleased with the rendering, so that I often come back to this camera. I bought while working/traveling in CA in the late 1980s.. it was not terribly expensive. . As I was generally using color slides then, I found this ideal for checked luggage small and handy.I lent it to one of my brothers, to try out... a few years later I go to visit, and see this forlorn camera. an My brother says" I don't know where that came from"... "I do". Anyway, the frame that held the glass frontal piece in place was damaged, (I have the glass piece, but no retainer frame left.the RF didn't work accurately anymore, also the lightmeter seems to be off 1-2 stops but I digress. I find I like the FL a lot and as opposed to the lsat post with the S310, same lens.(well 40mm), this lens does ok for its age. APX100 D76 1:1 Straight scans.. One sorry looking camera eh? Ummm the one on the left. Side Portico St Antonius Church View to Vodafon I've probably posted this view before; I think this was a school or a small candy factory... View to City Corner house Lohengrin/Columbus Streets A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood: ...last house on right is the same as above (Last house on the left is my apartment/house) Another (proverbial) Rheinscape
  4. Like AJG, my first thought is the chemistry, however, I remembered something that dogged me in the past and it was related to flourescent lights. I reviewed quickly roll 3 and noted mostly white backgrounds like walls and shelf suffered the most. Many images seem ok to a, well perfunctory once over!
  5. Very Interesting... a link through Turkey for valuable german cameras ..at the time. I haven't researched the serial number, but being a pre-war (consumer) camera likely places this in the late 1930s. Once the war began these also would be hard to come-by.
  6. I have a Voigtländer Bessa with the 3.5 Skopar.. . likely produced after the Zeiss patent ran out. So this is the 4 lens three group example from Voigtländer. A pre-war dersign that is not coated. After believing I finally had the light leaks behind me.. there's now an edge leak ... occasionally... grrrr.. intermittent. I tend to use 400 ASA film with this Compur 400 shutter as I am wary of using even 125th. So let the film take the speed. This is Foma400 souped in D76 1:1 (Straight Scans..dirt to prove it) I rode this path for a few years to and from work. I like this view and I shoot it ...well often,,,well too often! The Joy of using Pre-War Folders.. Duhhh what frame am I on? I've seen better accidental douible exposures .. it can happen The challenge of framing a shot and holding it level.. 400ASA helps
  7. In the well known song!! "Nice Work if you can get it.... " I definitely could appreciate a job like that.. I'm looking for a part-time job... this would suite me well 🙂
  8. As Bruce said.. Very Authentic looknbg The Combat Graphic. (Contax II is also period correct!! ) Hand Held 4x5...wow..!! I have used my SG with the rollfilm back... but came to the same conlusion... I have plenty of other 6x9 or 6x6 cameras... this is a 4x5 ! My recent attempts have been catastrophic, I really don't have a good work flow.. so every aspect of the process is still a "work in progress" Looking forward to your results!
  9. Indeed...mostly this is offered in 80mm 2.8. The 75mm will certainly do good work on 6x6. IS the Novar offered in 80mm? I seem to see mostly 4,5 quite often, so a 3,5 is a premium in itsself!
  10. (Maxwell smart voice) "The old double-sided tape magnetic washer trick! " I use masking tape, but it leaves sticky stuff after whic can be cleaned off.. but the leather suffers from the cleaning. Is the double-sided tape strong enough to overcome the magnets? I recall using Ilford?? a good while back.. and suffered this curse. I inevitably screw something up with these ruby window only ... weither I go past the number, (with 645 folder 2-window), get confused which frame I'm on, and the old double exposure trick 😞 too. Sorry for your 20 roll learning curve experience 😞
  11. Probaby a very well written book for the time.. and a welcome addtion to a Nikon/Nikkormat enthusiast. Post a picture.. we like looking too!!
  12. Wow...very impressive... I can see why you've been patient for this... Rolls and Searching... excellent such definition...
  13. That occurred to me to... upon review. I suppose it was belt driven... thanks for the observation and feedback!
  14. Wow.. tough act to follow..RickD and LuisT. I am back finally with more recent pics than last years highlights. This is only a few weeks ago. (I have plenty, from before, so not chronological) . I am using a Contessa S310 here. I so wanted to like this camera a lot more than I do. The results are just ..well maybe this is a bad copy ,,, often there's a central flare in the lens, and well it's not the sharpest tool in the shed either. I do like its looks and its features etc.. the results, are "less than expected"... but I persist .. like banging your head against the walll to see if it will stop hurting . I also noted some "bromide drag" on some negs... no sure why. I don't think the development time was excessive..on the contrary! The camera porn I pulled from the net, as I don't have a photo of mine, and no time now to make one! I used a yellow filter and it's my usual APX100 in D76 1:1. Straight scans Tonhalle (we've seen this before 😉 ) Favorite vantage point, ideal conditions... poor tools This is the entrance to the Rhine Tunnel .. Neighborhood Companion picture to a winter version of this view ..that I liked.. so I wanted a contrast to it Not sure what this 19th century machine is??? St Marien Kirche in Neuss Grazing Sheep along the Rhine
  15. LuisT This is excellent. A humble Canon F series .. the result looks like Ansel Adams ... WOW!!
  16. I found my list again after a few weeks, and now I do have the final roll from last years actvities. The camera in question is the very nice (and first) P&S from Nikon. I inherted this from my Aunt Ellie when she passed. My father gave it to me in 2016. I didn't realize my good fortune until later. The camera here is the Nikon L35AF which has the very nice 35mm f/2.8 with autofocus from 0.8m to infinity. It had 5 elements in 4 groups. Apparently this lens was specifically developed for the then new P&S model. ASmong P&S cameras..it is quite desirable. I tend to use this usually for family get togethers or job/grill parties etc. Being a P&S this is what it's best suited for. Here though, I give my usual (banal ) yellow filter landscape stuff I always shoot. The usual APX100, as I've been known to use, souped in D76 1:1 Straight scans (Epson 500) no pp. Lebanese Restaurant Oberkassel KunsztAkademie (Art Institute) probably posted this view before 😞 AltStadt Düsseldorf ..some very old building dating from 1694 Land Records Building (have posted this view too 😞 ) En de Canon (Badly scratched in the sky.. did some touch-up, but looks messed with ) Rhein Promenade..view to Oberkasseler Brücke(bridge)
  17. Just to reiterate some of the above. I had a Conaflex Super B. While I wasn't concerned about fungus per-se, I wanted the selenium cell to react to light ..thinking it would benefit. The meter was /is inconsistent.. I was trying makle it consistent. Placed it on the windowsill with the shutter cocked,,,and well forgot about it.. .. Some 3hrs later in direct afternoon sunlight. I found the procedure didn't really help! Later I realized the lens wasn't shutting down to the set aperture. Some oils I assume had now hit the shutter blades. I took it apart and tried to clean the shutter with ronsol (Q-tips) and constant firing. I spent at least three hours (ad nauseum) and then put it away for a month or so in the disassembled state... I had to get on with my life. A month or two later I came back to it as Roger ? (forum contributor) encouraged me stick with it...confident that it would come around and eventually work... after another hour or so with Q-tips and Ronsol.. Finallly the aperture worked. The initial problem still exist.s. the meter intermittently works.. as before. I bought a replacement... suffers from the same problem. The Super (no B) has the same meter and it works consistently...wrong ie a few stops off!! I now have three of these none of which a releable. I live in a very low humidy areas, I tend to keep my cameras/lenses in their respective never-ready cases to avoid dust. My extra lenss are in a cabinet with good circulation with rear caps and or make-shift lens caps to keep dust off the rear element.
  18. I do think the M series took the prize... The Contax "finger-grip" is the only way you can see the the RF image...so a beneficial longer base length..interferes with RF window... it's the only way to use the RF..
  19. Wow...who would've thunk! Lets see how this pans out! If it drives down the cost of film.... we'll see!!
  20. Careful with Ronsol.. it creeps where you really don'T want it... ie the optics get smeared with dissolved grease and or the shutter. If in the shutter, it gums up the works..
  21. I encountered an Agfa with a similar problem, I passed on it becasue I had read/heard before about this problem. Whoever had the camera before me had tried with a tool ..pliers?.. as there were marks on the lens. Whatever the lubricant used has now ( as someone commented before me ) turned to cement. If you have nothing to lose, you might try with a heat gun or a hair dryer that you can localize the heat. Perhpas this will free up the gunk. Alternatively, baking in an oven might bring it free. Generally people say just buy another... but apparently all of this generation have likely suffered this curse. I suspect once it's free, you can disassemble it and replace the lubricant witth something modern.
