  1. Well I'm back with pics from earlier this year!! I finally caught up. Here I am suing the famed Kodak Pony 135. I think this little guy hits above its weight class. A few years back, I came into one of these ..inspired by a post (here) of someione asking how to set infinity. I was imüpressed and after a roll or two I üicked it up one day..and the shutter failed to fire. Thinking this was simple enough camera, I thought I could fix it. Maybe you'Ve hear the adagee... "IF it ain't broke, then don'T fix it" In hinsight I believe this is more pognant than ever. I proceeded to strip it down, and I removed one if the (3?) springs, then another. I was looking for the spring that closed the lens and after playing with that without success, I decided to put i back togeter... well first one spring while tensioning went "PING" and I couldn'T find it . This was the single high speed spring, I thought OK I can live without it, then the main spring went the same way. and I was defeated.ä Eventaully ( a year or so? I saw one here in Germany at an online Antique site for a pittance... ie defekt... unknown. So I got it and with some naphta and exercise it came roaring back after a few days. Now the "hinsight" part is: You have to extend the lens before it will fire. I now wonder if I went on a long goose chase b/c I failed to extend the lens and thought it was broken Duhh!! HEre we are Kodak Pony... take two! Ummm note the lens is extended!!
  2. Keep it up Mike.. I believe I saved this to my collection! Big Cola fan! and this is a great subject!
  3. Sorry apparently no one has the experience or a tip on how this can be rectified. I suppose having it repaired will just not make senst. I do believe though any experience camera technician can likely resolve the problem, the do not have to be a Voigtländer specialist. I assume you'Ve Google the problem outside of this forum? Good Luck!
  4. Excellent images.. I wonder what you would use this for... "Rear Window"? at this size and wait.. I think I would likely pass!! I suppose the price was too good to resist!!
  5. Well after seeing Rick_Ds images with this developer, I was thinking he might abandon Pyro PMK, but the tests and experiences are his own .. and I respect that very much. I remember when he started settling on Pyrocat PMK over (other leading developers among those was D76 😉 ) I do think the tonal range is excellent with the FX39, and for me as a slow film user, perhaps I should "give it a go" , but I have too many irons in the fire as it is.. so I may yet in the future try it out
  6. Wow.. loved these impressionist views.. the vignetting adds to the charm!
  7. Thank You ..It was the only one that had any detail. I think I only had the Helios. Could this be the 85mm Jupiter 9?? [Apparently these 4-6 guys meet on Wednesdays.. and once a month there's a live music program.... I love it that they don't give it up...helps that they start earlier ]
  8. From Bruce_Z Posted yesterday at 05:28 PM A few photos in my "Looking up in awe" project series Seems to be off to a GREAT start!!!
  9. Greetings Comrades in Film, Well you have to take the good things with the bad... I had loaded AFX400 (36ex) to try to shoot in an impossible dark bar. I realized it was futile, but I never shot the rest of the roll...forgot what was loaded... assumed it was the usuall APX100 then exposed the rest of the roll. Upon realizing this in the moment I opened the camera .. duuhhhh I thought that using Rodinal with stand/development was a good idea. Try and equal it out... Didn't work. There was very little rescue in the Pub shots. The 100ASA stuff is ...well less thgn ideal.. a bit grainy. So this was APX400 Rdinal stand-develop. 1 hr. One inversion after 30min. The Skat Players in the front, would not be budged from their weekly game, despite live musik venue.. This was the only light source.. on the right. It was a bust! I had the distinct pleasure of a week long stay at the hospital (very nearby to where I live) in January. Here's a view from the 5th floor looking towards my apartment . Certainly this monstrosity has appeared in earlier posts from me. I am easily 100meters away...it's that big. View from the 45th floor again.
  10. Greetings, the busy bee (me) has pics from back in July.. I'm shooting with the Yashica FX1. A queer hybrid. It is battery dependent, if you can find the battery; incorporated in the rewind top assembly. If it is set to "AUTO" , when actuated by the shutter release, a very bright swing needle with delineated SS appears to the right in the viewfinder, se. Adjust the aperture to the desired speed, click. Otherwise manaul, no meter at all! IIRC I had a wide (Soligor 24mm) and the Planar 1.4. APX100 D76 1:1 Epson 500 ie... the usual sloppy dirty stuff! It was in great shape when I bought it, but then, in an accident (see far right bulkhead) A little dent Grrrr A few Cafe's in the Altstadt next to the SchiffahrtMuseum Part of a monument representing the founding of the city and the Medival struggle that brought it about. Another part of the same monument The Neanderkirche .. The church yard is the Biergarten of one of many local breweries. Cafe waiting to open. . .. (a nod to a contributor) Along the Düssel (north branch) as it empties to the Rhine
  11. @RickN ...Ditto what Bruce said; That first trio looked as real as it gets.. waiting for the caption 1944 Belgium 1st division etc (ranks and mens names) . @James; that portrait might be Eric Clapton....umm might be
  12. @RickD Wow Park #5 .. shades of (modernist) Paul Strand? Excellent!
  13. Ahh Great posts.. Summer is closing I am showing pics from earlier this year.. I'd have to look at the dates??? These pics were done using the (merger Zeiss/Voigländer) meager Vitessa 1000. A rather small camera..it boasted an RF, a CdS lightmeter, Prontor 1000 shutter, flash hotshoe, but best of all the 2.8 42mm Tessar . I am generally pleased with the rendering, so that I often come back to this camera. I bought while working/traveling in CA in the late 1980s.. it was not terribly expensive. . As I was generally using color slides then, I found this ideal for checked luggage small and handy.I lent it to one of my brothers, to try out... a few years later I go to visit, and see this forlorn camera. an My brother says" I don't know where that came from"... "I do". Anyway, the frame that held the glass frontal piece in place was damaged, (I have the glass piece, but no retainer frame left.the RF didn't work accurately anymore, also the lightmeter seems to be off 1-2 stops but I digress. I find I like the FL a lot and as opposed to the lsat post with the S310, same lens.(well 40mm), this lens does ok for its age. APX100 D76 1:1 Straight scans.. One sorry looking camera eh? Ummm the one on the left. Side Portico St Antonius Church View to Vodafon I've probably posted this view before; I think this was a school or a small candy factory... View to City Corner house Lohengrin/Columbus Streets A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood: ...last house on right is the same as above (Last house on the left is my apartment/house) Another (proverbial) Rheinscape
  14. Like AJG, my first thought is the chemistry, however, I remembered something that dogged me in the past and it was related to flourescent lights. I reviewed quickly roll 3 and noted mostly white backgrounds like walls and shelf suffered the most. Many images seem ok to a, well perfunctory once over!
  15. Very Interesting... a link through Turkey for valuable german cameras ..at the time. I haven't researched the serial number, but being a pre-war (consumer) camera likely places this in the late 1930s. Once the war began these also would be hard to come-by.
  16. I have a Voigtländer Bessa with the 3.5 Skopar.. . likely produced after the Zeiss patent ran out. So this is the 4 lens three group example from Voigtländer. A pre-war dersign that is not coated. After believing I finally had the light leaks behind me.. there's now an edge leak ... occasionally... grrrr.. intermittent. I tend to use 400 ASA film with this Compur 400 shutter as I am wary of using even 125th. So let the film take the speed. This is Foma400 souped in D76 1:1 (Straight Scans..dirt to prove it) I rode this path for a few years to and from work. I like this view and I shoot it ...well often,,,well too often! The Joy of using Pre-War Folders.. Duhhh what frame am I on? I've seen better accidental douible exposures .. it can happen The challenge of framing a shot and holding it level.. 400ASA helps
  17. In the well known song!! "Nice Work if you can get it.... " I definitely could appreciate a job like that.. I'm looking for a part-time job... this would suite me well 🙂
  18. As Bruce said.. Very Authentic looknbg The Combat Graphic. (Contax II is also period correct!! ) Hand Held 4x5...wow..!! I have used my SG with the rollfilm back... but came to the same conlusion... I have plenty of other 6x9 or 6x6 cameras... this is a 4x5 ! My recent attempts have been catastrophic, I really don't have a good work flow.. so every aspect of the process is still a "work in progress" Looking forward to your results!
  19. Indeed...mostly this is offered in 80mm 2.8. The 75mm will certainly do good work on 6x6. IS the Novar offered in 80mm? I seem to see mostly 4,5 quite often, so a 3,5 is a premium in itsself!
  20. (Maxwell smart voice) "The old double-sided tape magnetic washer trick! " I use masking tape, but it leaves sticky stuff after whic can be cleaned off.. but the leather suffers from the cleaning. Is the double-sided tape strong enough to overcome the magnets? I recall using Ilford?? a good while back.. and suffered this curse. I inevitably screw something up with these ruby window only ... weither I go past the number, (with 645 folder 2-window), get confused which frame I'm on, and the old double exposure trick 😞 too. Sorry for your 20 roll learning curve experience 😞
  21. Probaby a very well written book for the time.. and a welcome addtion to a Nikon/Nikkormat enthusiast. Post a picture.. we like looking too!!
  22. Wow...very impressive... I can see why you've been patient for this... Rolls and Searching... excellent such definition...
  23. That occurred to me to... upon review. I suppose it was belt driven... thanks for the observation and feedback!
