  1. Well for 10,00 and it works.... what a bargain.. I too am quite taken by it'S brutal appearance and I have quite a few Graflex Press cameras... this would fit in my corral!
  2. I like the argument that a split level finder makes them academic. But if you don't trust your eye ( aging factor ) and you do trust the focus markings on the lens... .. Any help is welcome!
  3. Excellent work with a consumer grade camera. Pardon the question, but why a light meter on a camera that has to fixed Fstops? I thought of the "pun" when I saw the name too. I really like the looks of this Bilora and assume this is more easily available than the previous camera you presented.
  4. Excellent shooting Tony. I love the look you achieve. I can't even come close. I have admired these Canon 7 cameras from afar..but I never had the budget to really enter the LTM series. All really fast lenses are very expensive these days!
  5. Wow.. All 'I ever read on this was it was hard to use when working correctly and finding one working correctly was hard to do.. Excellent results. ! I love the sharpness of the statue thou there is a bit of distortion or flare on that shot. All were excellent . Thanks for the custom mirror tip. I have a 10 year project on a ArtDeco rolleicord mirror. I bought two version that "might fit" Now I have a link to have a customer mirror cut!
  6. HEy gald to see you made the leap to home processing. Never say never with that film loading.. You want a Watson bulk loader BTW. I too see some style similarities in the abstract lines department. Excellent photos and excellent results. Like Gus my IIa has some problems but I still love it to shoot with. Genuine Zeiss lenses are so expensive. I do have a Jupiter 12 that does OK. I have a pancake pre-war Tessar 3.5 that has a slight milky sheen. It's ok in some lighting but will flare badly in other situations. I am so pleased with your positive results.
  7. <p>Wow Robin, What a great Kodachrome..."Those nice bright colors ... greens of summer"</p>
  8. I think I pass with Andrew B. I want to capture the feeling early on using mediocre gear and growing as a photographer. My beloved Yashica FX2 in 19 1980 was a real tool for me. I learned so much and often too feel I did some of my best work then. Within three years though I was into shooting vintage gear where results of any kind seem rewarding. I'm still a lousy photographer.. but I'm having so much fun shooting CMCs.
  9. Very Nice.. Schneider build great glass!
  10. Well lucky You!! You do tend to think of the Planar as synonymous wit he Rolleiflex. I love your examples though I do look forward to something more open to see the Planar better. I follow this argument and I might of stuck with the Tessar for all the reasons you gave.. because I'm a miser! Good that you kept your hand up!
  11. <p>Where would we all be if we didn't have the weather to complain about! Lovely example and even better shooting. I love that you have the whole color matching kit. Good for Marc to clinch the marketing. I have the Rolleiiflex T; a similar ploy in direction.. not nearly as pleasing to the eye. </p>
  12. Well What Tony L. said about those three words... I also am very impressed with your eye and like Rick D. mentioned these city- ( which one? ) scapes are just excellent. I love the abstractness and the architectural forte you've done here. IT is rewarding to shoot classics. Doing your won B&W work is not at all comlicated. Once you do it one time... it's so straight forward. I think Robert G. nailed it
  13. Well Well a lot of discussion about definition and direction here. I got the subject though .. I was very motivated with any or all the Cosina products that were produced. But while comparatively speaking (M / S mount)the prices were good.. they were still too much for this family man. The recently discontinued Zeiss Ikon I handeld a few times and felt this was the real McCoy. Closer to my heart would of been the very limited Bessa R- Contax Mount. This would be more to your own definition for me. A modern camera supporting 50 year old lenses. Mr SG may still have one for circa USD800,00. I haven't looked lately. Now my turn to go off subject ... The "retro look" trend in Digital is related to this little Cosina bubble I think...:)
  14. Wow.. what a great assebly of flying machines.. your images are great! The TL does well .. I have wanted one of those Tamioka 1.4s for some time now!
  15. Rick.. Great Series.. Like Tony L. I just loved looking at those classic sports card.. I'm an Alfa guy too. I though all the pics were excellent. The MGB Coupe looked super!
  16. <p>I've been very busy.. so I'm just now getting to our favorite forum... Excellent results! I am so envious of your Pyrocat Results.. I use better cameras and get far worse results Kudos Tony! </p>
  17. I'm sorry the focus was off. I think it is quite capable and do hope you go back to it and get it right. I would like to see a new post after that. I think any system work.. consistency is the key. I always wind just before shooting.. I think John S.'s tip is a good one about putting it halfway.. but again be consistent. I really liked the Sputnik pic and the one Walking Man was also good!
  18. I would say Anny Y.'s impression is similar to mine I really liked the finish shown in your photo. I too, am curious if your back plate adjusted the clarity. I prefer sharp photos, though "I get it" with the other look.
  19. <p>Bedeviled by light leaks.. been there Grrr.. Still interesting camera and the results seem promising. Please do it again. The leak is quite insistent Mine (3 rolls of film) turned out to be in the stud for the film end/tripod socket. It was microscopic and hard to find. </p> <p> </p>
  20. @Karim apropos "What a beautiful place.." Please check out Donald Fagen album Nightfly... central theme of the album is that phrase. Marc.. thanks for posting. That Contax S then could of been the future, and well it was... and IT wasn't . Despite the deabte, 35mm was already entrenched.
  21. <p>Very nice post. I love that Praktika model. I don't have one but I have just too many. The WLF are always sharper than the prism IMHO. I noted the blue sky with the 50mm Tessar. Mine has a similar unique rendering of blue in the sky. A personal favorite lens. It is stretching back to the roots I too have an old SP500 and The Contax-S/DeF models and therefore a few M42 lens mostly 50s. Complimentary is the Exakta line. IF what you said its essentially the same FX2/FX3, Why in the ad are they so far apart in price? Did I miss the difference; returning mirror?</p> <p> </p>
  22. <p>Late to the party ... really fine images Tony. You would have done equally well on most decent cameras, but what an interesting specimen. The alternate lens selection was nice. The RF I would like to compare, but I think it's build quality that speaks for itself. </p>
