1.
John its interesting that you should mention using the bleach and fix from a 6 step kit as I was thinking along those very same lines or even just using the prebleach and then blix, but when I went to look for it on BH and Adorama they were not there anymore, thanks for the link. So if you do one shot and mix opened bottles sooner rather than later does the results look as good as the 6 step?
And other John, thanks for your first hand info, it is a bit encouraging and maybe worth trying. I would love to have the passion I used to have for photography, and I think at least part of that was film. Digital just doesn't have a soul!

 2.
So here it is, 2015, and I wanted to revisit what is going on with E6. Here is my history, I have a Jobo ATL 1500 and used to process my own often when I was doing magazine/calendar work. I stopped when Kodak stopped with their kit and (GASP!) just pretty much did digital and B&W. I missed it, but when looking for a replacement I didn't want to split the bulk Kodak (which I think may not even be doable now) and reading about any 3 step didn't leave me very confident. But lately I have seen some positive posts about both Tetenal and Arista and just wanted to try and get a definitive answer. I am afraid some of the negatives may have been someone trying to get too many rolls out of a 1 liter kit and/or doing it in a sink. So has anyone done E6 in a Jobo with any 3 step, one shot, and got what they thought were just as good as Kodak or pro labs? I know someone is going to say "try it yourself and see", but honestly I dont want to go to all the trouble to set it up again or spend $100 on chemicals if it isn't 100% correct.

 3.
I guess we should just be thankful that they are still making film at all, especially LF, but the pricing is comical. I hadn't used much 4x5 in the past couple of years, but just got back into it this year. I had a bunch of Tmax and Ekfe 25 stored up and have been using it up. Well its pretty much gone so I needed to restock. I liked both fine, but of course Ekfe isn't around here anymore, so it was out (and reciprocity was a problem). I wanted to try Acros...... yeah nearly $3 a snap. Tmax, nearly $2. I used to use some Delta 100 in 120 and really liked so I checked it, just over a buck. Sweet. Order placed. Then I thought I would get some for less critical work to burn through so I ordered some Arista EDU for 60 cents per pop. I here its good with a few quality control issues here and there and pretty thin and soft so you have to handle carefully. Just thought it odd how its all over the place with prices. Delta is the same technology as Tmax and Acros but less than half price of the latter. The 120 and 35mm sizes are much more in line with each other. Is it like that in other countries?

00cu9q-551982784.jpg.4d03f24ca315d04fa2112a8e29edcee1.jpg

 4.
I have a camera that can shoot wide, its just wanting to make life a little simpler. Thanks for the heads up on the 47, I'm going to bid on that for sure and then see what I can do to make it work, has to be a way. Lens board to ground glass looks to be about 50mm, so if I could get it back there just 10mm or so I should at least get some focus ability

 5.
I guess I should have listed a budget, I was looking for something reasonable like a few hundred bucks, these things sell new for a few grand, and used looks like a grand still won't touch. I think I could fab a lensboard if I could come up with a lens. I have a mig and not afraid to use it!

 7.
I have an old Linholf Technika with a 6x7 adapter which works great with my 90, 150, and 240 4x5 lenses, but I don't have any wide angle options for the roll film back. Looking around about the widest I see is around 65mm and really want something more like a 50, but not sure if the camera can handle that and if anything is even available. I am not about trying to adapt something, so tell me what your set up is?

 8.
I ended up ordering something from ebay that looks kind of like a neoprene wrap for my camera that was super cheap, so won't be out much if its a dud. Also could pack it in a bag and it would help protect it. I need to be some kind of quick release strap now to attach and I think I will be GTG. I guess I should have mentioned that I don't do extended trips, mostly long weekend kind of things and the reason for doing them is the photography, so I plan on taking a D600 with the 24-85 3.5-4.5 attached, I have the manual focus 80-200 4.5 that I will have at my side, small bag for polarizer and shades. Keep an extra battery somewhere and I am not too worried about my cards, I keep the camera loaded with two 32 gb cards so that is around a 1000 shots. Don't think I would need any more than that for a long weekend!
On a side note I love the manual focus lens for nature, I grew up shooting an OM1 and then went to Mamiya 645 so I am much more comfortable with rings than dials, and its every bit as sharp as my 80-200 2.8 Nikon with about a third the weight. I managed to score the lens for a mere $12 at KEH, and it was even the late model with the black rectangle. It was optically perfect, just had been engraved with an Air Force serial number which I could care less.

 9.
Stephen- I am afraid to take a good camera if I am going off trail much, a lot of the trails I ride are pretty tough and just to be honest I am not an expert by anyone's yardstick and go over the bars from time to time. I am just a pretty big guy by mountain bike standards.

Bob-I guess I should have thought about that type of case, used to enjoy one on my OM1 30 years ago when I was a kid starting out. May look into that, thanks.

 10.
Thanks guys for the follow ups. I sometimes keep the camera out, but often I am in pretty tough areas and that makes it hard for bending under things and also gets knocked around a little more than I am comfortable with. I think I will go out this afternoon for a mile or so in the hills and see how it feels. Now if I could just figure out a safe way to carry it mountain biking.....

 11.
I think I have it figured out. Not done any field testing, but just putting it on it isn't even noticeable. This is just a small shoulder bag DSLR (Apex 120 All Weather by Lowpro) that I have taken the strap off and added small carabiners (toys really) that fasten the bag to rings on the shoulder straps of my backpack. I then added a lens pouch to the waist belt of my pack and I will add a very small pack somewhere with a filter or two. Now if I see something I want to shoot no need to remove the pack every time and like I said adds no noticeable weight.

 12.
I really want to be able to get to my gear without taking my main backpack off. I think this would be perfect if a little larger. Big enough main for a DSLR and a 24-85 3.5 and side pocket for a 80-200 4.5 or something along those lines You could put it on your chest to access without the pack coming off and have a strap around you neck to help support the weight.

00cMdf-545321084.thumb.jpg.32f6b56cfbe3258785572441f7df198c.jpg

 13.
I am wanting to carry a full size backpack with tent, bag, basics for a couple of days and camera gear that I can access easy along the trail, maybe even without taking my main pack off.

 14.
I haven't done much backpacking in a few years, but now that my son is getting old enough thinking its time again. It was always so hard to keep a small kit accessible with your full backpack. I have tried everything from putting it in the top of my pack, carrying an extra bag, etc, but nothing seems to work well. So my question is in the past few years sling packs have become very popular, and while may not be ideal may be the best compromise. Also I noticed that fly fishermen keep a pack on their chest and thought about going that route. Want to carry a FF DSLR body, couple of medium size lens, couple of batteries, filter or 2, etc. I always just carry the tripod in hand. So how do you do it?

 15.
I was looking for an alternative for the Kodak E6 processing and came across it still listed in the Kodak international site. A little more searching turned up this, http://continent-wide.com/kodak-professional-single-use-chemistry-kit-process-e-6-to-make-5-l.html. No phone number and the site seemed a little shady, but it looks to be for commercial use so it may just be that. Have to order $200 worth, but shipping seems to be free? Maybe a group buy if legit? Anyone know anything I don't about this?

 16.
I hate to see film going, I love it for landscapes and never have really taken a liking to digital for that purpose (and yes I have tried, with some great cameras and glass). To be honest digital has killed the fun for me in landscape photography, I just don't do it anymore because of several reasons, one of which is how hard it is to get supplies and the other just how easy it is to pick up my 5D and go (and never be satisfied with the results). I remember people wishing for the demise of film which I thought was terrible. I remember one well known blogger in particular that was really pushing for it years ago. Funny thing was his pictures were terrible and I think it had to do with not being able to take anything worth a nickle with film and if he had to use it everyone should.
I have been doing photography for a long time, been published in a lot of respected magazines and books, so its not like I am someone just picking up a camera for the first time. I am looking at my wall for fame right now and of the 6 pictures there none are digital. Having said that I am leaving in a minute to go do a commercial shoot and I will be doing it digitally, of course, and its certainly very good for that.

 17.
I still prefer Velvia, colors just can't seem to be replicated with a digital camera. I have 1000's of medium format images and several 4x5. I have tried to switch to digital, but never satisfied. Think about this, too. I started shooting digital around 2000 I guess and was putting images on the gold cd's that were supposed to last forever. 10 years later couldn't open them (and they had been taken care of). My mom found 40 year old 8mm movies in a hot attic of me when I was a kid and they were fine and we converted them to digital. How many digital files will be around in 40 years, and if they are what will open them? It's getting hard to even find a laptop that I can hook my tape based (which I prefer for the same reasons) firewire camcorder to.

 18.
Wow Keith, sounds like they ruined your day, for sure. I just got mine back this week and all is well. They had a long list of stuff they put in there, plus even emailed me a shipping label so I didn't have to pay shipping. The thing came back super clean and ready to go and it cost me $2 worth of bubble wrap to send it in (the kids pop every piece I get).

 19.
Ian, thanks for the link. Its great when people go to all that much trouble to help others along. Just a question, how long will the chemicals, starters and replenishers, last once opened? I did a quick once over on the Kodak site but didn't see anything. I don't get out as much lately as I would like and its a while sometimes between runs.

Tom, its OK, you can drop in and say hey anytime!

 20.
Cheap/Good/Big, here ya go-http://www.goldencolor.com/index.htm. Haven't used them in a while, but the last thing I had printed there was 24x30 from a medium format neg and it looked great. I am sure there are better prints out there, but they cost 5x as much.
