  1. What SCL said. With color print or B&W film, I might be inclined to add a stop of exposure whatever the meter says no matter the light or metering source. Meter just needs to “get you close”….
  2. Lots of detail and angles, with the M246 Monochrome and 75mm f2 APO Summicron-M.
  3. I have a black F2AS with the DP12. Purchased from Sover Wong, fully restored with one of his new resisters in the finder and the metering adjusted to semi-spot. The thing is gorgeous and works like-new. Here's an image of the new resistor vs. the old.. The mask to adjust the angle of metering to semi-spot.. camera apart.. Done. I'm 61 years old and this will outlive me... From his site, about his new resistor ring.. https://soverf2repair.webs.com/dp12_ring_resistor His entire site about the work he does is worth a read.
  4. Don't think I want to park up there. M246 Monochome and 28mm f2 Summicron ASPH.
  5. "St Paul", with an M246 Monochrome and 50mm f2 pre-APO. ...and 90mm f2 Canadian pre-APO.
  6. M246 Monochrome and 35mm f1.4 FLE at Klyde Warren Park in Dallas, Texas during the noon hour today (12/28)
  7. D850 and 70-200mm f2.8E, at 135mm and f2.8.
  8. D850, 70-200mm f2.8E at 190mm and f2.8.
  9. D850 and 16-35mm f4G at 24mm.
  10. Bought my D850 using the $500 discount from B&H week before last, along with the first CFExpress Type B card I've ever used. Just love the thing.
  11. M90 is the mechanical (non-battery) backup so something is gone amiss with the electronics which, today, could be a non-repair unless you find a shop with new old-stock parts or parts-bodies they keep for repairing other units that still have whatever piece is not working on yours that still is on a donor body. Midwest Camera Repair possibly, but it'll all depend on what it is that's not working. If it were me, a nice condition and working FM would be the logical move/replacement.
  12. D850 and 70-200mm f2.8E Nikkor at 120mm.
  13. Wouldn't be surprised if you found out it's be as inexpensive, if not more so, to just find a nice, used one vs. having yours repaired, assuming you ever do find the needed parts. I guess it'd never hurt to at least ask this guy.. https://www.ebay.com/itm/225214498473?hash=item346fd486a9:g:aiIAAOSwbR1hl-MZ&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoM304zT1Hzi3bPloe7oYDSzACsuK7XcpdPVIUaHXlW%2Bq%2F5gB%2FySiTLyyTG0JjN%2Fhv%2FGLitpJYWtWJb3YxUA8UZMAaT8soRRArxQDtOK1cRWQaqQ2Hnt9DSBMzOGUjQRI52Q3RWb70K8EIOxjLExmOlqVptmwD6tnH9atCUWFYgRxq4nSEhCI6MgKNktkG%2FuW9wjhAIDk8M3wKy6Vy1KjZfs%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR-D75tabYQ Or Midwest Camera Repair.

    D1x advice

Same story for the OEM battery for the D3/D3s. B&H still shows it on its site as “backordered”, but its been unavailable for a while and I’m assuming at this point they’ve just not updated their site to read “discontinued” or removed it entirely. I now have two Watson batteries for my D3s. They definitely hold a charge longer than two weeks but I’ve not tested them for shots per charge, etc. at least someone is supporting these fine cameras to some extent.
  15. For what they charge for them, Nikon's standard Z-mount lenses should be styled more like that "special" black 40mm f2.
  16. D780 and 135mm f2 DC Nikkor. Same camera, 85mm f1.4G at f2 and lit with a bounced SB800 flash.
  17. Df and 58mm f1.4 Nikkor, off the White Rock Trail around the lake.
  18. Agree with Gary and Rick. The F2 body is densely packed full of gears and wiring that runs from the battery box in the base to the advance/on off switch. No knowledge and opening an F2 = disaster that'll run you even more to have a repairman eventually have to rescue you from.
  19. There's a creek in there, somewhere.... D780 and 58mm f1.4 Nikkor.
  20. If Nikon announced the development of an OEM 135mm prime today, it’d likely be well over a year before it hit the street, a lot longer before it was somewhat available for the normal human being to purchase and, being an S mount, you and I know won’t be inexpensive/cheap/affordable/ use whatever term you want here.
  21. I doubt most could, but there are exceptions. Check his web site. Sover has a two-year backlog of repairs; https://soverf2repair.webs.com/ ....and he's taking a limited workload after clearing that. Plus, he sells F2's he's reconditioned. That's how I purchased mine from him, and it wasn't the same typical $300-$400 you can pay picking up a crap-shoot condition F2AS on ebay. If I was in the UK I'd definitely check into one of his workshops.
  22. There are LOTS of M6’s out there, so taking any chance if you’ve got a reason for concern is simply not worth it. I’d pass and move on.
  23. Midwest Camera Repair is one I have used for many long-discontinued Nikon lenses, the last of which was a beautiful 85mm f1.4 AIS where the focus was both stiff and inaccurately set. It came back working perfectly. They work on currently equipment, and have access to Nikon repair parts. I'd be shocked if they refused to service anything one needed to send them. http://www.midwestcamera.com/
