1.
what filters do you all use and why?

I have a few but have not used them much with my K100D but with the new Olympus I was looking into it again.

I mostly shoot outdoors, landscape and architecture so a polarizing filter would probably be best for my use.
just came across this on Amazon

http://www.amazon.com/Olympus-Digital-Includes-Multi-Coated-UltraPro/dp/B007BCWTTA/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1376864357&sr=8-16&keywords=lens+filters+37+mm

  2.
I loaded a picture the other day into my workspace and clicked on details....

ExifGpsLatitude: 48 49 48 48;

does this camera have GPS in it!?

I never noticed this before

  3.
I just got a E-PL3 and tried the adapter thing for my K mount Pentax lenses. it didnt work out yet as the adapter caused some damage to my Tamron 70-300mm lens I was going to try to use.

I havent given up yet though. I am going to try the adapter without the aperture ring since the lenses I plan un using already have one.

Cant wait to try a 300MM lens on such a small camera body. it will be like a 350 cid engine in a VW...lol

  4.
Justin,

welcome back. I come here from time to time. its not usually a daily thing. I visit in spurts mostly when I am looking for something inparticular or have a nw toy. I thought it was odd I didnt see many posts from you, now I know why.

Glad you are "fix" and back out doing what you love.

I am on Vacation next week and was planning on going to the Kaaterskill area to do some walking through the woods.
I sure as **** and not going to be rappeling off anything though....lol

nice to see you back

  5.
Wolf, Thanks for the compliment and yeah, I agree about everyone with a cell phone is now a photographer <Roll eyes>

Geoff....Nein sprechen sie those words in any language...lol

Thanks RT

JDM, does the pay account have tools like blemish repair?

  6.
which do you use to host your photo's?

Photobucket is kind of played. looking for a new place with better features.

I joined Imagur but I dont like it that much yet. The free account as they all have limitations. I dont mind paying for the better account and features so I am trying them both out.

I have to get my act together. I have six years or so of unorganized digital photos. It really piles up compared to film....
although the other option is upgrading here and using Photo net's hosting. How is their pay account?
does it rival the others?

for all the help and fun conversations I have had here and find it a wealth of info, I want to pay for what I know I get here. seems only right.

Thoughts?

  7.
the aperture lever on the lens mount is fubar and I think I might have stripped a gear in the barrel of the lens itself.

It might be repairable. I am not as upset about it today and I'll be sending an email to Tamron to inquire about their repair process and pricing.

its only a 200 lens so it might be prudent o just buy a new one.

  8.
so I got the fotodiox 10-PK-m43 with aperture dial and pit it on my Tamron.

I destroyed my Tamron trying to take the damn thing off..

:(

The little lever didnt depress to easily to be removed.

6 year warranty for a lens I have had for just about 7 years

the warranty disclaimer also states not to add accessories to the lens

So I guess i am out a lens. its my fault and at least the lens is only 200 bucks but its just very disappointing not to have at least fired off one shot.
I am a little leery to try it on another lens. I only have a couple and dont feel like finding out if the thing is defective or I am just a massive idiot

  9. Andrew,

Thank you very much for the info.

as far as the 18-55 compared to the 14-42...you're right. I snapped off a few pictures today that I am very

    happy with.

I didnt realize the Tamron's MM range would double on the Olympus...that is awesome. I needed to

    know that.

So even though my Tamron lens has the aperture ring do you think I should go with the adapter that has

the Aperture adjustment just to have it in case I use a lens that doesnt have the ring?

I really dont see that happening very much or me using a the bigger lenses often. I got the Olympus to

reduce gear size not make it the same...lol

  10.
R.T

I checked and only my Tamron 70-300MM and the 50MM from my K1000 has an aperture ring which is good but the 18-55mm lens I got with the K100D doesnt have it.....

I guess for the few extra bucks I'd be better suited with the second adapter you posted.one thing I dont see is the numbers on the adapter....do you know if the F numbers are there?

  11.
RT,

My daughter, who couldnt care less about my pictures most of the time thought the pictures from the Olympus were "vivid".....
High Praise from a 17YO. lol

That Adapter is a must have and at 17 bucks why not. I see it is for a PL1 but I think its the same mount. I'll have to check but that seems like a cool thing
