  1. The light. Photoshop can make miracles sometimes and good digital cameras automaticly correct some mistakes, but you just can't take portraits in direct bright sunlight. Try to meet the gentleman again, photograph him in shadow or at sunset. Looking forward to see your new results. All the best.

As I saw in your biography, you'd like to get income with your photography. Good that you are taking courses. Some simple advices, concerning this picture and also others in your Models folder: don't shake the camera when you shoot. Pay attention to the composition and background, depth of field and light. Which camera do you use? Get yourself an SLR with tele-lens between 80-105mm, if you want to take portraits. In this picture there is too much space below the model (grass) and on the right side, instead too little on the left of the picture. It also looks like the highest pole of the fence goes through his head. I hope this helps. Good luck.

The rating I would give, wouldn't even appear, so I give a few comments. It looks like the metal pole is going through her head, not good. The background is almost more in focus than the eyes. There is terrible noise, or whatever it's called in digital world. There is no sense of composition. I would suggest to take yourself a book of classical portrait photography. Start with that and see where it leads to. Another point: get yourself a decent camera, I bet this was taken with a compact digital camera? Good luck.

Finally a portrait of a wrinkled man with beard that I like. Well done! Exactly like it should be: concentrate in using light and in the moment when you shoot, forget the excessive post-processing. Great!

There was potential for a great picture, but unfortunately the poor composition and cropping practicly ruined it. It looks like she was trying to climb into the picture, looking at the photographer asking: am I in the frame? But the style and idea are interesting. Looking forward to see more from you.

Why are you posting here? If you are able to do and are interested in this kind of photography, you could make a big buck in advertising. Just leave the navy and do something creative. Excellent work!

The only good thing I can say about this "portrait", is that the background is out of focus. In every other aspect there is a lot of space for improvement.

I took a similar picture last year and it got the lowest ratings of the month in portrait section. We had the same idea, but why you composed the picture in this way? Why you wanted the window in it?

The man has an interesting face. I had a look through your portfolio and I have to say that this is one of the worst ones. As much concentration you put in photographing flowers, you should also give to portrait photography. Another point, concentrate more at the moment when you release the shutter, rather than post-processing.

I already gave a comment to another picture of yours. Great improvement. In this one she looks already like a human being. I am not so much into these sterile, almost plastic looking pictures, which don't tell anything abou the personality, but if it's ment to be like that, like from men's magazine, well, then it's well accomplished. Good work.

I went through your portfolio and in many pictures I can see that you have the eye and talent for photography. But unfortunately in most of the pictures you concentrate more in post-processing than in taking a good picture on the spot. This photo as an example: poor composition, uninteresting light, lack of contrast, unpleasing colours, no attention to depth of field, the woman seems almost disgusted about the situation rather than having passion to the dance. I hope this helps.

Looks like 19th century painting. I'd be interested to see the photography part of this creation. I can't give a rating because I don't consider it as a photograph.
