  1. Any photographer who is upset over other people taking photos at a wedding ought to get a life. As a photographer, I'm the one who is getting paid! If others want to take photos, rathat than being rude, I alway cooperate. It makes for a better atmosphere. I still get paid. That's it! Why not be nice? We're here to work. Let's make it pleasent. We don't need to protect our domain. We know we're professional. Let's behave as such!
  2. Karl: the camera has a slot to put the cards in. The cards can be printed anywhere, you just have to know where the area that the identifier is and have it printed. We printed it on cards and on envelopes, when we handed to the school. When we colleted money in an envelope, we just put the corner of the envelope into the camera and it photographed the name, number or whatever was put into the area. Email me with your name and address and I'll mail you a blank card with a box in it for the id. If you print the box into an envelope on the same corner area, you can use either.

  3. I've just received one of those checks. Of course I didn't cash it, but it sure looks good! I called the bank and asked for their fraud division. When connected to them, they told me not to bother putting it in because it probably is a fraud. I asked if they needed the account # to notify the person that $$$$ is drawn on their bank account # or stop their checking from being ripped off. They told me they can't do a thing about and didn't seem to care. Called the police, they didn't care. No one in the business of stopping fraud seemed to care. I am most surprised that the bank didn't care! I guess they can afford to take the loss!
  4. There are many people who should not answer any post. Unfortunately, these "grumpy old men" have nothing better to do. I think if you do not have a good and KIND answer, don't bother answering and get on with your life. These grums have nothing better to do than denegrate others. So, to all of you who don't have anything nice or for that matter worthwhile, to say, I hope I don't hear from you. If you must be rude and think you are better than me, you are better off passing me by and keeping your comments to yourself. You are right, I have posted and received snyde remarks from some. I wonder if they are just as bad in their own little miserable circle of life?

    Ignore them!

  5. Pam: I use cs2, but I would think it's the same. Use the Magnetic lasso tool and carefully trace around the subject. With lots of practice, you'll really get better at it. It took me a while to be able to cut properly. Anyway, after you meet the ends of your lasso and the image to be cut is defined, the easiest way to do this is edit-cut-open new bacground photo and hit paste onto new photo. If the image is too large or too small, control t will put handles around it for you to resize, or on top, you can increase or reduce percentage. With practice it gets easier. Good luck!
  6. As far as mistakes go, this one is in your favor. If you overexposed by 3 stops, no problemls. The film and the lab can handle overexposure with no need for special processing. If you go as high as 4,5 or 6 stops, I would ask for a one stop pull, just to put you somewhere in the safe zone of the film processing and printing. Since you are not sure of what the overexposure is, I would just be safe and pull it a stop. This is just within the underexposure tollerence of the film, to produce good shots of your indoor photos. If you need any more info, get in touch with me at http://www.greatlab.com
  7. I have been looking around to use greenscreen techniqes to do a large amount

of portraits of school kids. While I have been able to do a nice job, with

lots of post production work on hair, I don't think this will be suitable for

volume amount of work. Is there a program or add on that will remove a green

background, without having to do quite of bit of work on hair or other fine

areas of the photo. I've heard of Corel Knockout. Does anyone have any

experience with this program and can tell me how fast it will remove a

background, without having to put too much time into fixing hair. I will need

to do a lot of this. So if Corel is good, I will use it. If you know of

another software, let me know. Thanks for all your help so far. Photo.net is

    Grreat!

  8. Not just California, but everywhere. Photo equipment is just right for a quick sale. While shooting a wedding here in New York, there was a guy on the corner of the room near the exit talking on a cell phone. No one really paid attention to him. As soon as the videographer walked away, he want for the video camera. Luckily, the video guy, who had a camera stolen from him once before, turned around and saw what was happening. He yelled, and the guy took off, without the camera. The videographer chased him downstairs, but could not catch him because there was a car waiting for him. It turned out well, but taught me a good lesson. They're out there! There in business to take your equipment! Keep it near you and never leave it alone! Sorry to hear about your loss. That kind of loss would devestate me!
  9. John, John, John, What have you been smoking? When I said there is no cost, I mean it. The cost of producing this paper is already being paid for and taken care of by the publisher. That said, I meant what I said and I just would prefer to hear from someone who is interested and is serious. If you have a stupid wise comment, save it for your own post.
  10. A newspaper geared to Hispanic population has been given to me to produce here

on Long Island. Right now it covers NYC and Bonx. My job is to bring it to

Long Island. I am a photographer and writer and am able to work with Quark

Express to produce the paper. My problem is that I don't speak Spanish and

need someone who does and can work with me to produce the paper. If there is

anyone out there who is interested in getting this together with me, let me

know. abe@photo.net. Thanks. We are hoping it will be a moneymaker soon.

There is no cost to produce it, just need to put in some time and effort. We

have the beginnings of something very viable, but need to put the effort into

it. The paper is 70% english, 30% spanish. It is geared to lifestyles,

meaning more entertainment, health, politics, than accidents or spot news.

  11. To all who love optical film printing: The days are numbered and as sad as it's to be, digital printing will take over. The old film machines are not getting replaced, the digital labs are fighting for customers, who don't print and are happy to view photos on a screen, prices dropping, because labs can't feed their machines and want to encourage printing by lowering prices instead of increasing quality. There are some labs out there that produce an excellent job. They are far and rare. Lots of photographers are offering inkjet prints, which they preceive as good enough! The world is changing, the photo business is going to the computer companies. The big names in photography are no longer Kodak or Fuji or Agfa or Minolta or Konica. They are now Epson and HP and Adobe. Time to move on!
