  1. You can tell them to push it at least 2 stops. The third stop will fall within the tollerance of the film and still show good detail. Many places will not do the pushing on this film. YOu will probably need a custom lab. If they won't push it, see if they can shut off the motor to the processor after the film has entered the developer for aproximately 1 minute. Good luck!. The colors and contrast will be be as good, but at least you'll have a good image.
  2. Will a $20 work as good as a $200? Yes. Let me tell you this little story. I moved into a very old house, with almost no electrical wiring. I had to put pull switches on all the lamps. There was no door chime, so I bought a $10 wireless chime at Pergament. One day, coming home from a wedding, I had some leftover film in the camera and took photos of the kids with my wedding set up, which included the Quantum radio slave, which I bought for over $250 and more for customizing. Whenever I took a picture, the doorbell chimed. My Quantum Radio Slave was the same exact thing as my cheap $10 wireless door chime. They only difference, was one chimed the other set of a flash. Inside, they had the exact same electonic module, which probably wholesales for less than $5. Figure that out!
  3. I normally use the quantum radio slave. But I bought 2 cheap chinese radios slaves on ebay because I got them very cheap. They work!~ The batteries do go fast. I really don't think they have an off switch. For under $20, they're well worth it.
  4. I guess AOL doesn't understand that what they are advocating is not only illegal, but also hurts the photographer, the school, which relies on a percentage of the sale as a fund raiser and Society, in general. What they are advocating is a "let's all steal what we can" attitude in people. I guess they should know! Their company has gone down to the lowest levels. People are running away from AOL and it's Time Warner partner. Maybe they should advocate that people should copy and their material.
  5. Sorry to hear about your problems. It sounds like you are being screwed by an unscrupulous photographer. There are some out there. He took your money and ran! Contact your local DA immediately. File a complaint and hope they can do something about it. It would also be good if you post who he is so maybe someone out here can tell you where he is. Good luck!
  6. If the man has a good salesman, free could end up making him lots of money. That said, the sad part of the digital world today, is that many places have purchased very expensive digital machines and noticing that the volume of processing has gone down. To pay for the machine, or at least, keep it working so the chemicals don't go bad, they hope that giving a way a freebie, even if they lose some money on some customers, at least the machine is working and they have a chance to make some sales. Digital is wonderful, but very bad for the labs. Having just closed my lab after many years, I know that the digital world means the customer will print his own work in very small amounts. The bulk of the photos will remain on the computer or cd. Times are changing!
  7. Nice Website! I like it. The only thing I don't quite like is your little thumbnails. They are not cropped for the subject and don't show what the open photo shows. It shows only a part, I understand that, but you should show the part that will show what the image is about. Nice site otherwise.
  8. You're arguing about the wrong argument. The studio runs it's business the way it wants. Your friend chose the studio because they wanted to use their services and prices, not yours. Whether it's a cd, 4x6, 8x10, or 30x40, it's your work that you are selling, not the piece of paper. If your friend thought that they were getting raped, they would have gone to you. It's strange why photographers today are even thinking about print size. The same amount of work goes into a 4x6 or an 8x10. If you want your friend's business, start thinking about the amount of work you do, not the price of the piece of paper. I will assume that the photo, whether 4x6 or 8x10 or other size, will have your QUALITY work on it.
  9. Over the years, many strange things happened. During the Bouquet toos, one of the bridesmaides jumped and fell on her face, cracking all her fron teeth. Bleeding, she was hauled off to the hospital. One time, the bride got so drunk she was lap dancing the DJ's, videographer and me. I was more embarressed for her than anything else. I have been to weddings where guests were too drunk, passed out, vomited, unruley that fights broke out, WoW! Come to think of it, it's not that boaring of a job. Thank god it happens very rarely! When things go out of control, I stop shooting. I don't want to get involved in anything other than doing my work.
