Great photo ... but having eaten these Amanita Muscaria mushrooms on several occasions (after reading John Allegro's "The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross") I have to disagree with the common conception that they are deadly poisonous. They have been used by Shamans in many cultures over the centuries ... and although hardly suitable for a steak and mushroom pie repast ... if treated with respect and taken in Shamanic traditional circumstances one can manage to live through the experience and maybe even glean a little esoteric knowledge from the whole venture.
The photo says it all really ... congratulations!

Thanks for the positive comments on this and my double portrait of the two little girls. It's great to get good feedback every now and then to keep the keen edge on one's photographic endeavours. I was prompted to go look at your portfolio and am really glad I did. All I can say is wow! I'm going to have to go there quite a few times to get hold of the number of different photographic genres you have so successfully taken on in your work. Congratulations ... it's beautiful stuff you have there. Thanks again for the good vibes and positive critiques.

Yes I agree with cute and fresh. And courageous too, in this day and age of the mega do-gooder ... although it's not the first time these cheeky little bums have featured in one of your classic kids' shots. What I like about this as a photo, cute kids aside, is the way you have chosen a place of no colour to photograph them against, leaving the warmth in colour and dimension of their little bodies so predominant. I love your dedication to capturing and proudly showing your growing family here in Photo.net and applaud you and others who do the same.
Keep up the good work and good photography.

Hi Jaime. I know how that snap decision can chop of a vital part and seemingly ruin a perfect shot, but the capture of the expression etc. is so good it works really well with a crop just under her bottom, removing the offending feet altogether, or better still just under her elbow ... highlighting the face and the emotions she is feeling. Great capture really ... consider what you caught ... not what maybe missing.

It's a pity about the chopped off foot ... but I guess you get that with an action shot like this. Nevertheless it's a great capture ... the body language is dance-like. It could do with a bit of cropping IMHO ... but a great catch anyway!

Yeah this little girl is gorgeous and you do her proud with the series of shots you've taken ... but these latest couple of shots really bring out her essence like never before. Just marvellous ... keep up the good work ... this is top children's photography IMHO!!!

This photo is untouched except for a bit of darkening. The sepia effect
happened as a result of shooting into the 4pm Springtime sun off the
sea at Byron Bay. Comments Welcome!

Like a scene out of Peter Pan or something. This is a truly magic pohotograph. Apart from the technical excellence, I'm taken by the capture of the kids' movements ... truly wondrous time -freeze of little magic folk at play. Congratulations. 7/7 from me!

Hi Jacqueline ... I've kind of given up commenting on your photos because they're all so brilliant ... most of them take my breath away. Even this series in black and white is stunning ... which is saying something after your many masterpieces in amazing colour combinations and tones. However in this case I wanted to comment on how Malena is growing up and the method in your madness of having taken so many shots of her infant years is coming home to roost. As a 66 year old dad myself, I've seen many litle kids become big kids ... and they are no longer those little vulnerable angels any more ... only memories ... of which the absolute best reminder is photographs ... video and sound recordings are good too but photos are instantly accessible. So congratulations for setting a great example to other mums and dads and immortalising your baby girl's early years in such a splendid and artistic manner. You are a shining light and a total credit to this website and to the art of photography.

Composition is brilliant, models are perfect, focus, crop and DoF fine. There's a story here ... some comedy ... and great intimacy. Dunno ... but maybe a tad more contrast might strengthen it ... Anyway, I give it 6/6 and say welcome to PN. Looking forward to many more of your photographs!
Cheers.

Yes! I first saw this portrait many years ago and fell in love with your work ... this young woman tended to feature a lot. You take wonderful portraits of beautiful and amazing people. The little touches like the stray hairs in front of the face, the eye highlights ... the lighting. All very excellent. Not to mention the beautiful model ... Congratulations.
