Hello, Adriana. I like this picture very much - in my case I like the delicate shades and frost on the trees. I think it is very good as it is, but perhaps a little additional local contrast as suggested in the attached photo. I used the unsharp mask in Photoshop, with the amount at 25 percent, the radius at 50 pixels, and levels at zero. You are doing great work. Regards, Tony

Raymond: that is a lovely picture of a wolf. And great photography. I also admired your polar bear shots. Regards, Tony

Martyn, thanks for your comments. The grouse was in a small nature reserve in Ottawa west (Ontario). It was on a skii trail, eating food from a broken bird feeder. Apparently it was quite used to human company in this protected area. Usually they are really shy birds, this was the first time I got close and I was able to capture 110 photographs. Regards, Tony

Mike, A couple of people suggested regarding a similar grouse photograph that more attention could be given to lightening the head/eye area to bring out the detail. I agree with the suggestion and I like what you have done. Please don't remove it as it is an interesting point for discussion. I guess I have reservations though as my intent is to portray accurately the whole bird without selectively altering the colouration - perhaps an alternative is to lighten the whole picture. In the attachment I lowered the contrast so as to raise the exposure by 0.8 stop without blowing the highlights and, I my view the head looks better. However, the colour saturation is lower. Any comments? Regards, Tony

The thing that caught my eye is the protective eye cover that is closing
over the woodpecker's eye as she commences to peck. Any comments
please?

Since the time of King Solomon the humble rose has been recognised for its
excellence and beauty and as a symbol of character. This picture at 6:40am
caught the roses opening up in the morning light.
