  1. Thanks you guys for commenting. This was shot late in the evening and it was getting fairly dark and kinda blue so I set my white balance to open shade on my Nikon which is 7200 and +10 on the tint. There were still some reds on the clouds as it was a fairly colorful sunset. In ACR I pumped up the temp to 7500 and left the tint at +10. I was nowhere near daylight color temp. In PS I created a lights luminosity mask and used it with a color balance layer. My adjustment for that layer was just 1 point towards red and 1 point towards magenta targeted to the highlights. Other than working a little on the contrast that's it.

It has been a while. Haven't seen much activity from you on this site lately. Maybe because I haven't been paying attention. I don't check in everyday like I used to. You are correct, this is the west side somewhere opposite McDonald Creek along the highway. I had the Redwoods in mind when I found this spot. Good to hear from you.....

  2. Stephen..... It's funny how b/w can completely change the feeling of an image. Thanks

    Victor....... Thanks for commenting.

Larry...... Thanks. That texture doesn't show up in the color version and I nearly trashed it.

     Mike.... Thanks, I appreciate it.

Pierre.... Thank you sir. Long time no see.

Gerolamo.... Thank you.... Nice hearing from you.

  3. Hi Alf.... this one was a challenge to process. I considered cropping on the right but it put the mountain peak too close to the edge for my liking. It's good to hear from you.

Mike.... those yellow aspens were a problem with the blend. If they were dark green like the pines they would have been easier to mask and paint around but being lighter toned it was impossible to keep the two images from bleeding together. Thanks Mike...

  4. Mike... Down over the hill from this spot was a huge cow moose that I was able to watch for a few minutes. Thanks for commenting.

Ruud..... Thanks for the kind words. It's good to hear from you.

    joao.... Thanks very much.

  5. Mike.. I'm sure it is. I was excited last fall because it was the first year in a long time that construction wasn't going to close the road early and I would have access to Logan Pass from this side (west side) of the park later into the fall season. Then the government shutdown closed all the parks anyway. Can't win sometimes.

  6. Thanks Adam...... I have photographed this scene many times and no doubt will do so again. The photos are all the same year after year so I thought I would try to add something a little different. Next year I'm thinking of having a trout sailing through the air from ripple to ripple:))
