Have you informed the D300 about focal lenght and maximum aperture of the AI lenses, before mounting?

Very nice shots, with true excellent exposure readings.

The Hoya is a biggest optical glass maker in the world. Sell the raw glass also to the Leica company.

Is simple to mount an LTM lens on the Nikon F bayonet: you must use a T2 adapter for the Nikon F bayonet mount and a proper adapter ring to mount the LTM lens on the T2 mount. Obviously, you lack the infinity focus: you can work only in the macro range.

If the camera is in good conditions, is a very excellent tool. Is one of the few sixties cameras that work with the 1,55 silver oxide batteries. The meter have the double reading system: integrated or spot (like the Leicaflex SL). The TTL read in stop down mode. The body is very robust. The accessory shoes don't have the hotshoe contact.
I own a Mamiya Sekor 1000 MSX, only with the spot meter, but have the hotshoe and full aperture TTL meter. Also work very well. The sister 1000 DSX allow the double meter choice: integrated and spot.

If possible, buy both.

The Micro Nikkors are very too sharp for portraits. I prefer the Nikkor 85/1.4 (mine is the AI S version). Also, the Nikkor AI S 105 mm f/ 1.8 or the AF D 105 mm f/ 2 DC are good alternatives.

I agree with Mukul. I alwayse use a lenshood, with all my lenses (for me, the lenshood is the accessories king). With my Summitar i use a Leitz IROOA.

I own a coated version, builted in 1952. I love very mutch this lens. The sharpness is very good. The contrast is low, perfect with ultra contrasted Velvia 50/100 or Ektachrome 100 VS.

The Canon Canonet G-III QL17, that i own also, was designed to use the outlawed PX625 mercury oxide battery with 1,35 voltage. I solve this problem by using a MR9 battery adapter (that i use also with all my cameras powered by PX625 batteries). The MR9 adapter, made by japanese company named Kanto and selled by Cris Camera Service in USA or The Small Battery Company in UK, have a built in micro electronical circuit which reduce, automatically, the 1,55 voltage of the silver oxide 386 battery in the original 1,35 voltage of the PX625 mecury oxide battery. The MR9 adapter work very well.

I use, for replace the merury oxide PX625 1,35 volt in the Canonet G-III QL17, an MR-9 adapter, which i bought at www.thesmallbatterycompany.com. This adapter have a built in micro electronical circuit that reduce, automatically, the 1,55 voltage of 386 silver oxide battery to the 1,35 voltage of the outlawed PX625 mercury oxide battery. The MR9 adapter work very well.

Thank you very mutch, Frederick! The finder of the Bessa R2 is really big and bright; is only the rangefinder patch not so good in the low light condition and out of correct alignment in the vertical composition, but i see the Huws web site to solve my alignment problem.

Hi, dear friends. I own a lot of rangefinder cameras (Leica M2, M5, MP, CL)
and two Bessa (R2 and L).
The Bessa R2 show an imperfect alignment, in the vertical composition.
Moreover, in the low light conditions, the rangefinder patch of my Leica CL is
sensibly better than the rangefinder patch of the Bessa R2, in spit of the
effective rangefinder baselenght of the CL is shorter than the effective
rangefinder baselenhgt of the Bessa R2. Is the rangefinder patch of the Bessa
R2 so poor?
Is possible register the alignment of the rangefinder patch, in the Bessa R2,
without go to repair lab?
Thanks to all for the answers. I wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Neil, your shot is simply fantastic.

My preferred shot is the second, from Mitch: is a very dramatic and perfectly printed B/W picture, perfectly composed. The shot of Harry is very suggestive, but the location is mistakable whit west Istambul shot from east Istambul: moreover, the vignetting is very strong. The shot of Steve is correctly composed and suggest the sunrise quiet and serenity but is also quite dull. Obviously, these are only my very opinionable thoughts.

The Yashica Electro 35 and the Canon Canonet QL17 was both very important representative compact cameras in the sixties: both have a 45 mm lens. I own the Canon Canonet G-III QL17, that i prefer to Yashica Electro 35 GTN/GSN (both seventies compact cameras) because the G-III QL17 have the mechanical shutter and also allow the manual exposure, even if without the meter response, and the finder show the aperture scale. Instead, all the Electro 35 models allow only the shutter prority automatic mode and the finder lack the shutter time and/or the aperture indications. The electronic shutter of the Electro 35 go down to 30", while the mechanical shutter of the Canonet G-III QL17 go down only to 1/4".
The finder and rangefinder patch of the Electro 35 models is great and useful, the lens is very sharp and the shutter priority mode is very good. Also the Canonet G-III are great in the same things.
I'm very happy with the G-III QL17 but if i find a mint model of the Electro 35 GTN/GSN, i think to buy. Both G-III QL17 and Electro 35 GTN/GSN are complementary, non antagonist, in my opnion.

The sharpest 50 mm lens, for me, are my Leitz Summicron 50 mm f/ 2 D.R. and the Contax Zeiss Planar 50 mm f/ 1,4 of my brother.

I'm an happy owner of the Canon Canonet G-III QL 17. I have solved the problem of the outlawed PX625 battery buying the MR9 adapter. This adapter employ a built in micro electronical circuit that automatically reduce the 1,55 voltage of the 386 silver oxide battery to the 1,35 voltage of the PX625 mercury oxide battery.
Search in Google to find the MR9 vendors.

I have used a Summicron 50 mm f/ 2, in the theatre. I think you need the faster lenses, however, to exploit the fast shutter speeds.
