  1. I have had the speedfinder on all 3 of my F1N's for years, and wouldn't use the standard finder anymore.

Years ago, before I did some research, I ordered a speedfinder in mint condition still in the plastic box that they originally came in. The damn thing was for the older F1 that you have and it sat around for a few months before I got time to check it out. Its been resting with me since then, unused by me as I have the newer F1's.

I'll look for the damn thing and give you a shout back. I have no use for the older one, it doesn't fit the F1N...

  2. I just called the Canon Corporate Office at the number listed above and they tried to pawn off an 800 number to call (800 828-4040). I told the operator that I needed to talk with one of the Vice Presidents and she said she would put me through to someone. It was just one of the customer relations reps, named Germaine. He wouldn't give his last name. His direct number (757 222-9002 x2496)so he says.

I told him about all the problems with the rebate program and the many others who are also having similar problems. I asked who the administrator of the rebate program was and he side stepped the question. He asked if they had contacted me and I answered NO. He asked for the spelling of my name and what physical address I had put on the form. I gave him my post office box number and he said a condition of the rebate was to have a physical address, i then informed him that i receive all my correspondence through my post office. He told me that a physical address was required; i asked why and he said there are various reasons but one is that this rebate program is only offed to USA customers. (what if the US customer lived outside the country).

He indicated that they would be calling me within 48 hours. I told him that many unhappy customers were ready to start a class action suit if these problems aren't addressed. Again, he told me that they were going to look into it and take care of the problem.

I suggest y'all call him as well and document your correspondence.

  3. You know whats probably happening, the scumbags that Canon has hired to be the authorized 'agent' for the rebate program is probably getting paid from Canon on EVERY ONE of the rebates and is pocketing the funds and only sending out the rebates if someone REALLY leans on them.

Time for EVERYONE to lean on CANON, either a registered letter or claim in small claims court. THAT will get their attention. This is big money and someone in Canon has got to have their fingers in the cookie jar too!

They only understand ONE thing. Time to kick some ass.

  4. Factor in THE HEAVIEST monopod that Manfroto makes, its a NECESSITY.

Its a GREAT wildlife lens, wide open in the predawn hours to catch deer , etc...

Also, the lens hood is a necessity as well as the drop in filter. Make sure you get both items.

The lens itself also has a screw out type of lens hood that the removable hood attaches to. Easy on the screw out threads...

A great lens for major league baseball as well...

  5. Howdy All,

My daughter just learned to load the film packs in her High School

the other day and took some 4 by 5 shots using monorail last week.

They are just getting started with the 4 by 5, is tray processing

going to cut it or will they need something like one of the Jobo

    tanks?

    gracias amigos!

  6. If this subject is that important to you, then you'll post ALL your parameters and data so the other members might be inclined to help, just like your redundant post that you left in the EOS Forum 9 minutes ago, which is one of the Do not do things at PN...

    have a nice day.

  7. dude, sounds like you're missing the detachable tripod mount from the lens as the lens should be the item mounted to the tripod...

This lens provides outstanding versititily in any light with its fast F/4 maximum aperture coupled with excellent balance and light weight for convenient hand-held shooting. In order to keep size to a minimum for its aperture, the Rear Group Focusing System is employed.

Spherical and chromatic aberrations have been corrected to near-perfect levels, thanks to a new optical design. This lens also offers vari-pitch cam-type focusing mechanism for exceptionally light and fastfocusing. A detachable tripod mount is provided as is a filter holder for economical 34mm drop-in filters

i wish to shoot flowers against a white background. this will be done inside. any suggestions for the background material, and second, how can i light/flash the photo so the background is 'paper white' and get good exposure on the flowers? thanks.

place the background far enough away from the flowers that it can be lit seperately from the flowers themselves.

And use lots of light on the background. 2 stops greater on the background should do it. Rolls of background paper from your photo dealer are reasonably priced. White sheets?

  9. this is true.

i bought my at the time 13 yr. old an RZ Pro and all the goodies , the AE finder adds a lot of weight to an already heavy cam. Forget the motor winder, it will make it so heavy that she will leave the entire rig home. If you do go with the AE finder, there's a magnifying flip-up attachment that used to be made by mamiya that is absolutly unbelievable! You can focus on an eyelash with this accessory attached. It flips up on the viewer of the AE or the PD for CRITICAL focusing and then flips down out of the way. It was several years before i found out about this gem. If i remember correctly, you put it on the viewer, look through it with the lens off the camera for the initial setup, turn the adjustable focus on the magnifier till the grid lines are sharp, then stick your lens on and run wiht it after that initial setup.

i use the sekonic L-508 meter which i'm very pleased with, however, the newer L-558R Sekonic has a Pocket Wizard Remote built into it and she can fire the flash from a subjects face without stringing acable all over the place from the camera. A Pocket Wizard Receiver would have to be positioned at the camera/flash to receive the signal.
