I agree, nicely composed and processed. The grain adds nicely to the feel. Just one thing bothering me is the 2 crescents of darker (or lighter depending on how you look at it) area at the top of the shot. It looks like they could me hills, but then I wouldn't expect to see the brightness in the distance behind the horse if so - just keeps dragging my eye back to it and distracts slightly. Cropping it off doesn't work either as the horse is so nicely placed in the original.

I'm not sure I could say this was beautiful. Smoggy and dirty and grim. Suffocating too. very nicely done.

heh, so what, some times thats just the place you get to stand. Really nice shot. subject matter aside, it is well exposed through out and has a great ethereal quality with the mist. If I were to pick at all it would be to have a little more contrast in the foggy patch - I know it washes out by its nature, but it might be just a bit tooo white. Cheers. Rob.

I gotta say I don't really like this... putting a finger on that statement is a little difficult though. Especially as I really like the execution, arrangment, colouring and delivery. It just irks me somewhat. I think it is the damn miserable bugger (I hope his waist coat is heavy and chaffs).
So although I don't want to view it again, I do think it works very well. And the reaction is not a negative comment of the image.

as the clouds cleared. exposed for the sun; deliberately dark. best
viewed a bit bigger to make things out. comments appreciated.

good shot mate, you can really get lost in all the details. I like the way the costume mirrors the easel and all the conitations that then brings forward too (art and life and all that kinda thing). I'm not sure about the tone/colouring... I can't really fault it but something about it makes me itch; but I can't offer a better alternative ;-)

i like the style in which you've done it and the treatment, but the wardrobe, for me, is a real drawback; that 2nd face just taking too much away from the main subject and crowding the arm, so I end up looking at the t-shirt rather than your mate. Some other pattern/logo/picture/writing would most likely have been no problem, but two faces in a portrait isn't working for me. Hope that's of some use. Rob

I would have liked to seen it shot from nearer to the floor angled up. You have the magnificent backdrop, a parallel of peramence and decay and a potential for 3 peaks but the tops are cut off. A lot of potential, but it falls a little short for me. Hope that's of some use. Rob

great composition and isolation of the subject to produce a very compelling image.

I like the drabness as to be almost black and white with just the dash of colour, it makes for a wholely depressing (maybe that term is a bit strong) image. Don't get me wrong, I like it, it has an impact, but I couldn't look at it for long. The bleed into the sky is perhaps a little too much for my liking. nice work.

i must admit it doesn't look too nice as a thumbnail, bit too
cluttered.but I like that the eye can wander across the scene picking
its way between the solid, the inside and the outside reflections. any
comments appreciated. thanks

excellent shot mate. vibrance, perspective. composition, lasting impression and a good title. can't fault it. one i can happily come back and savour

i like this a lot for most of the reasons mentioned above. Ive just rechecked and there is actually very little noise (more like soft tones), but my initial impression was that it had lots; with the strong contrast it felt like a photojournalist shot from the 80s and my brain must have just filled in the grain itself, heh. nice capture.

in all its gaudy splendor. my favourite of the series. the composition and arrangment lets the eye sit comfortably. it almost feels like a montage poster you'd find in a travel agents or as a tourist guide. very nicely done.
