The Lost City

The warm rays of sunrise begin to burn off the morning fog over the lost city of Machu Picchu, Peru. I was lucky enough to be on the first train back to the ruins after the disastrous floods of winter, 2009. This was the first day in nearly 4 months that the park had received any visitors. And it was empty at sunrise! This is a fairly standard composition, but the light was pretty special...

heh, so what, some times thats just the place you get to stand. Really nice shot. subject matter aside, it is well exposed through out and has a great ethereal quality with the mist. If I were to pick at all it would be to have a little more contrast in the foggy patch - I know it washes out by its nature, but it might be just a bit tooo white. Cheers. Rob.

I will rate this a 7/7 as soon as the system will let me.  It's sad that someone can create an alias and manipulate the system by giving out 4/4s, but I can't rate this amazing image a 7/7 because you rated one of my photos with a 7 :(

Hi, Michael, very nice perch, love the contrast of colors, subtle light, magical balance on exposure, crisp details, wonderful rendering!   Best regards

Mike - Wonderful mood you captured, and great luck to gain access after the nasty slides they had.  Maybe a touch more contrast in the distant right peaks would add a little depth.  A sweet shot indeed.

Oh yes, standard shot, just another portfolio shot. Well not so fast, the light makes the shot and you invested in being in the right place at the right time. That is how magic happens, good planning. Well done.
