  3. <p>Dylan what is your goal in using a top of the line 35 or 50mm lens? My 50mm f1.8G is very sharp and light weight, I use it for street photography. While I would love to own the aforementioned 55mm Otus, it's manual focus, weights over 2 lbs and cost $4,000. Do you to carry that as part of your Kit?</p>

  5. <p>I agree with Matt and others on not having a strict definition. While I have a "true macro lens" I rarely use it for capturing small flying insects or hummingbirds. This shot was made with a D600, 70-200 VR at f4, the magnification was about 0.25. </p><div></div>
  6. <p>I would rewash the negatives and use a wetting agent like Kodak Photo Flo to minimize any spotting.</p>
  7. <p>The depth of field for an 85mm, f1.8 at 5 feet is only 1 inch. Your ISO of 3200 and shutter speed indicates a low EV which would challenge the auto focus of most cameras. If you must use those exposure values i would 2nd Ilkka's suggestion of shooting a burst and picking the best photo.</p>
