    The seeker..

Yes.  Mystery, mood, atmosphere.  But for me it's the simplicity that makes this special.  The overall tonal range and gradational change are also beautiful.  Very nice work.

  1. Wonderful combination of architecture and humanity.  The light makes this magical.  I would consider cropping the right side to eliminate the rightmost side of the pillar, including the edge, and maybe correcting the perspective.  Just a minor suggestion for a really great photo.

Wonderfully unique.  The contrast between the blurred flying snow and the solid wall is very striking.  Your composition is creative and effective.  This has high impact and needs to be hung in a gallery.  Very nice work.

Beautiful details and lighting.   The contrast between the bright ice and the dark ominous sky is striking.  It might also be interesting to see just the left side of the left iceberg against the sky as an alternative.  Very nice work.

Unusual composition which drew my interest initially.  My only wish is to have the largest water droplet in focus in addition to the parts that are already sharp.  Nice work.

Very interesting subject and the dof works well.  My preference is to have a less distracting background, something that is more uniform in contrast to allow increased attention paid to the main subject.  As it is, it's unusual, interesting, and is well processed in B&W.

Very nice atmosphere and subtle colors.  My preference is to have less of the tree branches in the foreground and to see more of the spruce trees.  Having something in the foreground to give a sense of depth and/or add secondary interest is a good idea, but there is just too much and it seems to block the view of the beautiful scene in the distance.

The shoadows make this work.  I have encountered situations like this where the slope of the ground horizon makes the image look tilted.  And I have played with making it horizontal, but this is less honest and I like the natural feel of your scene.  Nice work.

I agree with the comments above regarding the mood created with this photo.  I also like the subtle and gradational change in color from yellow to blue-gray, bottom to top.  Good composition with the main tree offset to the right and just the right amount of foreground.

I don't normally have much interest is compositing photos, but in this case it works beautifully.  I love the dimuitive figures apparently wandering through a weird landscape.  Very well constructed and should be hanging in a gallery.

  2. I have interest in shooting subjects like this as well.  The good bokeh, nice detail, and overall exposure are very good.  You might consider shooting just one of the dried up flowers with a macro, especially the one on the left or a similar one.

  3. Nice scene with a nice sense of depth, excellent light, and pleasing colors.  My main issue here is the the position of the horzon.  For this photo, I think a better choice would be to place the horizon toward the upper part of the frame, thus emphasizing the rocks in the foreground and eliminating some of the uninteresting sky at the top.  Also, it appears to me that your horizon is very slightly tilted to the right.  But this is still a very nice image as it is.  Nice work.

I think this is one of your better elk shots.  It provides more of a context for the animal and that context is pleasing in and of itself.  The overexposed sky and mountaintop are a slight issue, but that's a minor distraction for a fine photo.

    Guard Dog

I think a slightly tighter crop eliminating some, but not all, of the foreground and thereby enlaging the dog would be an improvement.  The fence on both sides provides leading lines as does the tracks in the snow, but IMO the dog is the star of the photo and should be made more prominent.  But this is still an interesting shot with an implied story, and that makes it successful in my book.

The horizon advice given above is useful, but don't feel that you can't ever place it in the middle.  For this shot it applies, but I have seen many others that are very effective with the horizon in the middle.  My only other suggestion is to try to add another subject in photos like this . . . a person walking on the beach, a piece of driftwood, a bird, etc.  It helps to add interest and possibly suggest a story in the minds of the viewers.  A very minor distraction is the inclusion of the tip of a water edge at the lower right.  If it were contiguous with the other water edge, no problem.  Here is looks like it's been cut off.  Overlal this is a very pleasing photo with a nice atmosphere and sense of depth.

  4. I like the overall feel of this photo but I wish for less of the dark area above.  A tighter crop would be an improvement, allowing more attention on the people and the lighted areas.  The lighted portion of the upper part of the building on the right is somewhat interesting, but could be sacrificed to eliminate the darker area in the upper center and left.
