And the right choice I'm sure, to apply the vignetting. Excellent work, it's a very engaging image.

What is the story here? Fabulous image, with such a great expression on the person's face, almost as if the camel on our right had just done something wrong. Is this the beginning of an exhibition, or a race, or...? Clearly it's well attended based on the crowd. Anyway, excellent work, this one is both fun and has commercial value, if you have a model release.

@ Jim Adams: You da man.
@ Paul, great work, a famous gentleman once said "f8 and be there". You were there, and forever will know the tradeoff when trying to decide between gear and a walking stick. The walking stick certainly makes for a relaxing stroll, so I don't mean to denigrate it. But, well, now you know =) -

Tack-sharp, great colors and contrast, nice work!

What a tough get. Beautiful detail, and if they are like other shrikes I've seen, they don't just sit there and hover for you, nor do they fly in a straight line. How did you get this? It's a wonderful shot.

It's a great story and a better image. I am not at all bothered by the corner darkness, it looks natural to me. This is truly spectacular... your work generally is fantastic, but this is both fantastic and unlike anything I've seen before. I want to go!!!

Well worth the effort! And, while you are forced to be close, you get the most enjoyable experience of _being_ close. Good for you!!!

The hair and the shoes! This is truly special. You obviously have an excellent collection of sports photos here, with a strong sense of the personalities as well as action shots. This one just really called to me. Great work, thanks for sharing.

Truly spectacular, they almost look like stone statues placed in the grass. This is such an outstanding moment. It's hard to imagine a better wildlife image, you must have been thrilled to be there and get it. You have several excellent images of these beasts squaring off, but to me this one transcends the rest. Congratulations, great, great work.

Face to face with a sea lion in Santa Cruz, he approached, gave me a
good stare down, and then left. In the end it's what I would call an animal
portrait. But you might call it something else.
Critiques are always appreciated.

An excellent pose, well illuminated, you get a great view of the bird. It seems to be over-sharpened, particularly the outline of the feathers and shoulders against the sky. But it's beautiful, and seems unique to me, because I wouldn't expect an osprey to try and balance on such a small branch - if I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have believed it!

Clearly I'm not the only one who likes this image! Really well done, my favorite of this little series... so far!!!

Really evocative. What made you think to do this? I like it a lot!

everybody loves a cute kitten, but the "scale model" shoes make this priceless. Bravo!

This really shines when you look at it "larger", and the details shine. At first I was underwhelmed by the subject, but I changed my mind when viewing large, and in either case I love the framing and the background. Really well done.

My goodness. It's hard to lose with puppies and kittens, but you sure nailed this one. Serious cuteness with a graphic flair. Sweet.

Outstanding treatment for this image. It's hard to do interesting things with cars at car shows, other than photojournalism. Turning this into a painting like this makes it into something else altogether, and it's really beautiful. I also really like the balance of color and relative monochrome - the whole thing just works. I am not a car buff, but I would put this on my wall. Winner!!!

Tm J, You could always leave it unsharpened, or create 2 layers and hide the sharpened layer where it creates trouble. In any case, it's spectacular, I think it's my favorite hummer picture ever. And if you poke around here you see a lot of them!

I have no empathy for the man after what they've done to the bull, but I do see his fear, and you did a great job of capturing it.

This is very dynamic, love the way you panned and the overall effect of the dirt plume with the rain and the "pose". Great composition, black and white is perfect, this is a big-time winner.

I like the perspective on this, it's unusual for a surfing image (to my knowledge). Nice graphic lines, and I like the way three of the other surfers are headed off to the right, while the lone upright surfer is leaving us to the left. It's not an "action" photo so much as an environmental depiction of the overall activity, with some artistic flair built in. Nice.
