    Shy Eyes

          3

Taken on an overcast Mendocino morning last month, this very young

fawn was not far from its mother, nor from a protective stand of trees,

munching on flowers and keeping a watchful eye. Your

You're getting a lot of attention on this shot because it's a classic shot!  Keep taking pics of your dog, too, not just to improve your skills.  Take pictures later in life as well.  Our dogs are so awesome, their time with us short.  The photos help us remember...

This is perfect.  It's obviously a fantastic pose, well lit, great color and sharpness.  The overall design of the composition is wonderful too... heck, even the blade of grass is smiling!  Bravo!

She was only about 6 weeks old, so getting under a chair seemed like

hiding to her. She wasn't sure whether to pass out or come out to play

some more. I think she did both! Makes me smile whenever I see it, hope

it does the same for you. Comments/Critiques/Ratings are all welcome.

Also if you would like to see different material, look at my website, or if

you want to see a lot more of Kenya then look at my Blurb book. Enjoy

    your weekends everybody!!!

    Morning mist

This is pretty cool.  Just a misty morning of fishing, with the dog looking for things to do while masters settle in.  I think I'd prefer it without the wagon wheels.  They draw my eye but not to any purpose, relative to the scene.  But otoh that's part of the environment there.  Great tones, having the dog in silhouette is excellent.  Nice image!

    LA SERPIENTE

This is a nice intimate pose.  It's oversharpened, maybe in an attempt to force the face and eyes to be in focus.  The body down at the bottom of the image is tack-sharp, you just missed it up at the eye, where you need it the most.  Next time.  The  composition is outstanding.

Absolutely beautiful, and excellent right down to the cropping decisions.  Excellent color, detail, and light fringing around the surface tension areas.  Bravo, this is a masterpiece!

Neither the mother nor the kid is remotely worried about the youngster

navigating this cliff. As seen in Glacier National Park, a magical place.

  1. Linda, literally LOL over here in my chair!!!

Those were the days in more than one way.  Last night I went to a show where they were very insistent that there be NO cell phone pictures of any kind, much less a camera.  I think they are actually doing a disservice to the musicians, but that's how it works now.

The blurred borders don't bother me so much in this image, because the subject is more isolated and not directly affected, except maybe the tail?  It's an impressive beast.  Your B&W work is most excellent!

Is the "bridge" of his nose white?  It seems a little hot, but if it's white to begin with there may be nothing to do about it.  That spot draws my eye a bit too much for my tastes.  Otherwise I really like this, it's artfully crafted.  Well done!

I would also lose the blur, but I love the intimacy of this image, with the youngster reaching in to steal a little food (I assume).  Lots going on in this one.

Yes, definitely lose the blur.  This is otherwise an outstanding image.  Bravo!

Nice, and great to get this close while the leopard is on the move, ignoring you.  I like your B&W treatment here, the way the animal is isolated.  What a magnificent beast.  Well done!

This is a fine piece of art.  I appreciate all the subtleties.  Any reason you didn't go with the classic crow as your bird?  Just asking, not asking you to change it.  I love this.

The color is strong, and the sharp foreground contrasting with the blurry background also make this very interesting.  I don't suspect that you could improve on this by moving to B&W, although it's always worth a try to see.  I like this quite a bit as is.  Well done.

OK, now you should critique all of us, too =)

Very nicely done.  It can't be perfectly straight as shot, but I'd like to at least straighten the foreground horizon line.  Still, I like your treatment in B&W, this is very striking.  Nice job!
