Thank you! Her expression is the subject of the image which I presented in a particular way.  And you noticed it! Success! :)

This photo stopped me in my tracks!  Happiness breeds happiness.  I love everything about this photo! It's photos like this that drew me into wanting to learn the art of photography over 30 years ago.  Thanks for sharing, and keep up the great work Ruud!

  1. to someone unfamiliar with the sport, it's difficult to understand what might be happening here; since it appears that the refs are standing, it would be my guess that either this skater is off to the box just after a jam ended or the pack has come to a stand still somewhere out of the field of view; a wider field of view to put the skater in context with rest of the track activity would help

    squeezed!

what I like most about this photo is how the light falls perfectly where it should to make this portrait so alluring; the model strikes quite an interesting pose also - some tension but still comfortable;  great job!

i love the way the foreground and background colors harmonize!

    excellent communication with the model!

i might have cropped a bit more from the left, but that's not a criticism, just my personal taste if i were fortunate enough to take such an interesting image!

  2. Thanks Tore! Suzy is such a dynamic skater.  Arguably the best (certainly the most famous) in the world of flat track roller derby.  It's rare when I'm happy with my captures of her during game play to showcase her athleticism and general coolness!  I do like the way this one came out though.
