Dean,

She is a really cute girl with a wonderful smile. You have focused well on her eyes. She has very good eye contact with the camera (viewer). The composition and color saturation is very good. She has good skin tone. The lighting is good. Her make-up is well applied.

If this was in the fashion category I would critique this differently. It is in the portrait category, therefore:

Avoid bright colors and bold patterns in clothing. In a portrait the subject’s face is what is most important and nothing should draw the viewer’s attention away from the face. This is also true of the background.

Avoid having the back of the hand towards the camera. The edge (side) of the hand towards the camera is thinning, feminine and graceful.

Do not pose your subject straight on to the camera. This is not a very feminine pose. Showing your subject’s widest areas (shoulder to shoulder or hip to hip) makes those areas appear wide. Your subject will appear thinner and more feminine, graceful and elegant if turned at an angle to the camera. The lines you see from an angle have more apparent motion, interest and grace. You usually do not want to have your subject turned 90 degrees to the camera. This can make the head look unsupported. It usually looks best to angle your subject somewhere around 45 degrees.

You have two catch lights in each eye. One catch light per eye is preferred.

Nice shot,

Mark

tnx very much for your detail critique ...

you are right , I put category automaticly to "portrait" not thinking about it at all:-)

it should be in "fashion" in fact this is taken for one teenage magazine cover , and basicly it is fashion not a portrait picture ...

my mistake and tnx to point it out ...

best regards

berty

p.s. here is how it look in context of magazine cover : http://www.facebook.com/pages/OK-je-OK/40771554951#/photo.php?pid=3355524&id=40771554951

What a great idea!  I like virtually everything about this photo.  Very smart and very bold.  It is even a fine cover layout.
