    Dressing Up

          8

As I was quite pleased with the end result, I have included the original to show the degree of manipulation that occurs with some of my shots. I don't use a studio and sometimes when capturing the shot the lighting is not always at it's best. The rescue was made using some dodging, curves, shadow highlights, channel mixer, neat image and some sharpening.

    Hope you like it.

At 7.00 in the morning, no one has a right to be this beautiful. Not

    even Madison.

Shot taken using no flash so skin tone range would be maximised.

    Me

Not a picture of my beautiful daughters but proof that their beauty

has either skipped a generation or they look like my wife!

This is a self portrait and the reason I'm happy is that my camera

hadn't broken to that point in time.

Haven't posted anything for a few weeks. Just liked the colour of

this and the expression (even though it looks as if I've just asked

her to look to the right and smile) - which I haven't.

  1. Tried to compose with the idea of a zig zag taking the eye into the

picture. Hope it works, let me know.

    Kind regards,

    Paul

Check out my mate Gavin Churcher's photo's for landscapes and

Portraits if you get a chance.

Taken from a recent shoot where I decided to leave the flash in the

box. This was taken at 15th sec plus tripod and at ISO 200 (best for

    the D70 really).

I really liked the effect of a non-flashed subject and felt that the

benefits outweighed the sharpness. Hope you do too.

  2. This photo represents the beginning of my landscaping phase. Anyone

who knows me or my portfolio knows that my area of interest is

Portraiture/Children. I bought a Tokina 12-24 lens and here are the

    results.

Captured as she came through a door to a party, this candid showed

some promise as there was some nice symmetry in the eyes. And what

    lovely little eyes.

Not the sharpest photo in the world, but that's not always required.

Katie is beautiful and I hope I have managed to capture her cuteness.

Aside form the shadow (which i could remove if I really wanted to) i

really like this photo of my friend's beautiful little girl. She was

tricky to capture as she running around, but I love working on candid

shots and this is the result. Many will dislike the amount of unused

space but i composed it in this way to show the space she is running

into. She;s utterly beautiful and I'm hoping this is enough to get a

    good rating ;0)

    Teeth, at last

          5
I tried to get thin sliver of focus (as is often the case with portraiture) so that I could capture the big eyes and not much else. Where I feel I failed is that one eye is very sharp and the other is not quite as sharp. The hand and clothes, ears and top of the head are as I wanted them to be, though I take your point. Those pinkies would have been nice in focus. Thanks for your comment.

Jessie is growing up. Her teeth are (finally) here and this photo is

the evidence. These two little tusks have kept us up at night.

This is simple candid of my little girl Jessie. I liked the central,

symmetrical composition and the non-setup feel to it. The tones

worked well and it seems to have a nice, clean feel to it.

I don't think the skirting board in the background takes too much

away from the shot - As I say, my candids are not set up in a studio

and so you won't always see gradiated, clear backgrounds.

Yep. You are right. She's a Persil Girl! :0) (that joke may make no sense outside the U.K.) Thanks for the critique. Looking forward to your Portfolio.
