A shot of my Wife with my little girl, Jessica. I know I could have

removed the dribble with photoshop and I have taken less dribbly

ones, but it is kind of endearing and so I left it in.

    Please view large.

I think this is wonderful. I greatly admire anyone who can get close to the beasties anyway, but to capture them so cleanly is even harder. This is truly a wonderful shot.
  1. This has been taken using my 50mm f1.8 nikon lens. It is a shot of my

daughter which seems to show her in sombre mood. Though actually she

is in between expressions. You would never believe she was running

about grinning like a Cheshire cat before this. I just think there is

more to child photography than children grinning all the time. Please

    critique.

I have another shot (which i shall offer for critique) in my gallery called "Natural Light" which is my favourite shot of my little girl.

"Natural Light" shows the eyes of my daughter which empty my wallet every time she wants.. :0)

Absolutely fantastic. Whatever did you think when you first saw the results of this?

The bubbles at the back, I guess, would be a slight distraction - Beautiful lighting though.

I have a friend who constantly berates me for my 'tightly cropped' photos.

He feels that it's too in-your-face.

I feel that's the whole point.

If you get the time to look at my gallery, you will see that I feel it's important to capture a childs beautifully perfect skin, their clear eyes and this is best achieved up close.

I shall in turn have a peek at your gallery - Which I always do when someone comments on my work.

I'd like to think that if I had a 'style' then this represents the style quite well. The shots are clean and (where psossible) uncluttered. They are closely cropped and contrast considered quite carefully.

    Thank you for your marks.

When I first saw this, I thought it was a priest performing Holy communion. (Only at a glance).

    It is a wonderful photograph.

    What a beautiful model/actress.

What an interesting way to show onlookers, which of course, we are. I have given this 7 (rightly so) for originality and 7 for aesthetics as it perfect. I couldn't improve it.

My hobby is photography; my children are (IMHO) beautiful. What a happy combination. Thank you for your kind comments.

Regarding the comments about empty frames. The Police Drummer, Stewart Copeland used to say of his music that it's not about the beats that you hit, it's about the ones you don't. The empty space represents the beats that you have decided not to hit. Excellent!

This is perfect. There aren't that many portraits that grab you. I think photographers lose imagination when faced with photographing a child. Maybe it's the fact that they are difficult subjects. The rewards are there. This is a wonderful example of manipulation (I assume). Could you please furnish with details if it isn't a secret recipe? 7/7

This picture of my daughter is very popular within our Family. It

just shows a little girl, happy with her new poncho. This makes a

nice colour shot but black and white helps to limit the distraction

of colour and allows the focus to be purely on her expression.

although I like the 'open-eyed' shots of my children (often when they

aren't smiling) this makes it's way to my portfolio purely because

aesthetically, it just feels right and she looks beautiful.
