    Dry Lake Bed, Namibia

That is a STUNNING shot ! Great one.
  2. Very nice composition. I really like the way the eye is capture by the root, moves to its shadow and then continues along the line to arrive to the bushes and then the tree. You can almost feel the water/life flowing from one to the other. A bit more texture/contrast on the sand (middleground) and root on the foreground would have made for an even stronger picture as it would have enabled the viewer to appreciate some of the textured nuances captured by the picture. That's a really minor point though - and a matter of personal state - so not a downside at all to this very nice shot ! Good work !

    Spiral Staircase

Nice composition, lighting, grain and contrast. I particularly like the way the lines on the right hand side and the double stripes on the staircase which echoes the double shadow of the metal bars. The way the wall seems to embrace and curve around the stairs is nice as well. Nice shot !

    Soldier - 20

I like the expression and the gesture - makes you wonder what he's thinking about as he smokes. Also like lighting on the left side of the picture. One minor comment is that the light on the right side of the picture (at the shoulder levle) seems darker than the lighting on the left side would suggest, resulting in a somewhat artificial black in an otherwise well balanced picture. Might be worth trying to increasing the exposure a bit on the right hand side and use vignetting instead - might do the trick. Hope that helps. Good shot !
  5. Well composed and nice textures - love the nuances on the mattress and the texture of the wood pillar on the right. Would have been great to have a quick 1-2 line description of the context/story behind the picture. I feel this would have helped enhance the impression of the photograph. Good shot.

    February (IMG_5944 v18)

I like the geometry and texture in this picture. Also enjoy the plain blue square (upper right corner) and the stripes (in the middle at the bottom), both of which provide strong breaks to the otherwise crusty/old textures. I also like the idea of using different colors to highlight the different textures. The colors appear to be too saturated/vibrant though, which makes we wonder if the image can be printed at scale. Might be worth testing more subtle changes in colors/contrast. Hope that helps. Good stuff.

Really like the geometry and the grain in that one. I also agree with the previous comment: the white stripe is what gives the picture its dynamism. Nice shot !

    walking in the rain

Picture taken with a old phone under heavy rain. One of the instances where low resolution gives the picture a painting feel (notably on the umbrella, and trees). Also like the solitude of the character going alone to a place unseen by the viewer. Constructive comments welcome. Tell me what you like, what you don't and what could be have done about it to make the image better. Many thanks and hope you enjoy it.

    100 Berlin cut fix 1

Reminds me of edgar hopper's paintings. Perspective is well set up and the fact that she's reading combines the feeling of solitude in the shot with a hint of mystery - giving it a hopper's paintings vibe. Nice work !
  12. I like the industrial feel in this picture, from the boat to the beach of concrete on which these persons (or should I say shadows) are enjoying the last days of summer. The escaping line of the peer does a great job at breaking the symmetry.  Reminded me of Rene Burri's famous Sao Paolo picture. Nice work.

    Idolatry

Taken in nyc. In many ways, the scene seemed like a modern twist on Michelangelo's finger of creation, with the 'crowd' of nameless hands looking up to the one visible figure, seemingly intent on trying to save them to bring them to the other side, a place unseen to them but where the viewer can spot darkness lurking in the background. A reminder of the madness of crowds? Constructive comments welcome. Hope you enjoy it.
