  3. When I bought an M6 the red dot annoyed me. Leica USA sent a spare red dot at no charge. I painted it matte black -- over the shiny script too -- before putting it on the camera.
  4. Howard has not started the thread this week, so I shall step in. This man worked as a guard in a housing complex but became a tea seller when he developed breathing trouble. Micro-Nikkor 55/2.8 on Sony A7
  5. Chhotu is a plumber by trade but he helps me by doing all manner of jobs which I can no longer handle. Nikkor 85/2 on Sony A7

  10. Howard did not show up a week back, so I shall stand in today. Here is a photo taken at a nearby welding shop. Nikkor 85/2 on Sony A7
  11. Does "Summarit 50mm f2" perhaps mean Summarit 50/1.5 at f/2?

  14. This man sells chholey and pathoorey (Google finds both words) in the mornings and chicken soup in the evenings. A picture of his wife is in the Mirrorless forum. Micro-Nikkor 55/2.8 on Sony A7
  15. Read my first post again. I spoke of one particular kind of locking pin.
  16. In the late 1960s, my dream kit was an M2 with 35mm and 90mm lenses (see Karim's recommendation above). If you like the 28mm length, I'd suggest that you make 75mm the second. That will make no sense, of course, if you do no portrait work.
  17. While relatively few users have had this trouble with Nikon flashes -- or with flashes from other makers -- there is evidence that several makers' flashes with a certain kind of locking pin have become stuck to cameras. The same thing does not ordinarily occur in different parts of the world because of an "environmental problem" because the environment is not the same all over the globe. The stuck flash-gun phenomenon has involved flash-guns with locking pins of the same kind. Design, not environment. Your Sony flash -- described twice -- does not fit in this discussion.
  18. I said that the locking pin problem occurred in "all brands which have adopted the faulty design". There is not even a suggestion here that Olympus were responsible for the design. I had to waste time searching again for "locking pin flash foot" and "flash stuck on camera". Here are a few of the results which came up. Flash stuck on foot stand | Strobist.com | Flickr -- Canon flash -- 2009 580ex locking pin -- Canon flash -- 2010 What can I do when a flash is stuck on my Nikon DSLR? -- Sunpak flash -- 2004 Metz 58-AF 2 - A cautionary tail -- Metz flash -- 2012 These words appear in the last link: "This is my second 58 AF, I had the mark 1 before which had a plastic foot and was known for problems with the locking pin. I had assumed with the improvements to the MkII they had also fixed the weakness in the design of the locking pin..." SB28 speedlight is stuck on my N90s. How to seperate it..?? My flash doesnt want to go off camera! Its stuck! HELP! -- Nikon flash -- 2007 See posts by TomBrooklyn and Wortleberry.
  19. Thank you, rodeo_joe. My camera and flash were eventually separated by a technician who took apart the lower end of the flash. Sensibly, he ground down the pin so that it cannot cause trouble again.
  20. I use an Olympus FL-36 flash on my Sony A7 camera. The flash has its own sensor and exposures are correct if both devices are set to the same ISO and aperture. My kit was unusable for some days as the flash got locked on the camera. The culprit was the pin which extends downwards from the foot of the flash. On searching the Internet for a means of getting the flash off, I found that this happens with all brands which have adopted the faulty design.
  21. For years I connected to Photo.Net with the Chromium browser (the Debian version of Chrome) but that became impossible when the site's software was changed. It still does not work: I tried it today. My e-mail program, Thunderbird, gives a "possible spam" warning for every message from Photo.Net. When I click on a link in such a message I am asked if I trust mandrillapp.com.
  22. I first met Professor S.N. Sharma in 1957 as a small boy. He taught me several things over the years, including some related to photography. Although he is now 93 and cannot see or hear well, he came across town to meet me. Nikkor 50/1.4 on Sony A7
  23. Good to see another photographer who uses an A7 with lenses made for film cameras. It is my guess that your first name is Sergei.
  24. The base plate looks like the usual chrome plated brass.
  25. Kaaley Khan, now grey and arthritic, greeted me as he has done for over a decade. He pushes against my leg until I bend and rub his back. No amount of rubbing is enough for him. Nikkor 105/2.5 on Sony A7
