  1. Here's a young chap with one pair of grand-parents. All with Nikkor 85/2 on Sony A7
  2. My sweetheart Janya visited me yesterday. I had not seen her since the first day of the year. Her mother Aruna has resumed work in television. Nikkor 85/2 and Micro-Nikkor 55/2.8, both on Sony A7.
  3. It was a hot day in Delhi, so Kaveri visited late, after the light had almost gone. Nikkor 50/1.4 on Sony A7
  4. Allen, where was your photo taken? I see two women with covered heads in the background, which suggests Muslim people or a Muslim country: but I have never seen a garment like that on one of the men on the bench.
  5. Maybe you can, as you started the thread. I'd try the "EDIT" option.
  6. Both Nikkor 50/1.4 on Sony A7 I had two welcome visitors today, chaps with whom I was at high school until I passed out in 1966. I had not seen one of them for these 53 years.
  7. Maybe I should speak to an ophthalmologist. I shall now call myself an OSU. I do have the kit zoom which came with the camera but I seldom use it. It does not need Eye AF owing to its relatively short maximum focal length and small maximum aperture.
  8. I was impatient, Howard, because I wanted to post the first decent photo I'd taken in some weeks. Is "animal eye focus" fundamentally different from focus on human eyes?
  9. Your best bet may be to search the Internet for a copy of the same lens. If the lens was made for a manual focus SLR, the different mount designations are at Minolta SR-mount - Wikipedia. There may be alternatives from other makers for the same mount.
  10. Here we go, Howard. Young Kaveri, who uses for me a word which translates as "Grandpa", visited me after a gap of fully two months. She was in the last lap of completing an M.A. degree. Nikkor 50/1.4 on Sony A7
  11. What neil_ parker said reminded me of what I heard (or read) in the 1960s: that the Leica was the only camera allowed inside recording studios with open microphones. Obviously the twin lens Rolleis were not considered here.
  12. These were taken to check a lens which was just cleaned as it had a bit of fungus inside. The stuff on the cap -- which the man said he was given at a temple -- concerns the Ayodhya dispute, which has dominated Indian politics for decades. Both Nikkor 105/2.5 on Sony A7
  13. Kaveri came during the week. She brought along her boy friend, whom I had never met. Nikkor 50/1.4 on Sony A7
  14. When I realised that I had forgotten to say that the camera was a Sony A7 I began to fear being thrown out of the forum.
  15. Kaveri is one of my favourite young people. She visited me after several months. Nikkor 50/1.4
  16. The pano is impressive, Howard. I offer a photo of a young woman and her 1-year old who may never learn to smile. Nikkor 50/1.4 on Sony A7
  17. This little sweetheart visited after more than four months. Her mother assures me that the child knows no rude gestures. Nikkor 85/2 on Sony A7
  18. The J-9 I had several years ago (like other lenses copied or derived from those by Zeiss) did not focus correctly on a Leica. I adjusted the range-finder of a FED 2 body such that the J-9 gave spot on focus on it at my usual distance for portraits ("head shots") with 85 mm. It gave relatively low contrast but was sharp enough. I understand that it works well on Kiev bodies.
  19. This man is a rickshaw puller but is unusual in that he helps elderly people in various ways, such as by fetching their medicines and vegetables. Nikkor 105/2.5 on Sony A7
  20. My friend Aamna, who calls me Daadu (grandpa), is by no means the only girl I have photographed whose eyes close when she laughs and who covers her face with her hands. Nikkor 105/2.5 on Sony A7
  21. A young lawyer with his recently arrived son. Kit zoom on Sony A7
  22. This girl is visiting her older sister, whom I know slightly. Kit zoom on Sony A7
  23. Sorry, I should have said "left edge". It's now clear the light and the modifier were to the right of the camera.
  24. Whether the "light modifier" works by reflecting light or by altering light which passes through it, I'd say it does a good job. I wonder, though, why the top left of the frame is so dark.
