    hi.......

very good. In the word of cheesy bikini babes, this is feminine and yet strong.

her right armpit loogs a bit odd. try to crop it out.

pose is good, but the face could use some extra light. the biggest

minus here is the almost complete loss of foreground and background

separation. she is just jhopelessly lost in the maze of various elements in the bg

    photo.

Hi there! This is an on location shot in Merihaka carpark bunker. The light

behind is the end of a driveway tunnel. The reason I shoot there is that

you can avoid some wind and all rain, and the holes in the concerte wall

create all sorts of weird ambient light setups (though this was filled

about 50% with a sobo flash). Go figure the catchlights in her eyes :-)

The model is a very busy commercial model in Finland, and rightly

so. I shoot a lot of newbies, and shooting with a pro pro is a bit

odd as your success rate (of from mediocre to great photos) jumps from

10% to 90% (you the photographer is the one that screws up, not

    the model).

It's a catchy and fun photo. Obviously not your standard fashion shot,

but the self promotional "picture recursion" is quite charming. Good

use of red tones even in the floor. The crumped curtain is a bit odd element.

A bit more attention to background detail and this would be a really, really

    good photo.

  1. good isolation of foreground and background. Not sure about the pose,

though... leaves the pretty model rather short and lost in the image.

My first impression was like "what in the world is she doing" which is

probably not what you were after.

Technically, the photo is quite good. The face area is tad too dark.

I usually do these shots with artificial flash lighting. This was 50%

flash, 50% indirect sunlight from an opening in a wall... must do

many other experiments in this mixed light regime!

its great! I love the midkey graytones that just go on and on in those

details in the hair area. Reminds me of some 60s movements - carefree

    primrose days.

this is a very good portrait, with well thought (or perhaps

you were just lucky :-) foreground and background color themes. I especially

like the shadow areas in the face that still bring up the shape

    and texture.

well, I guess it is yet another masterpiece. I admire your use

of tonal scales. Hikey is very difficult to master. Very, very good!

the colors in the background match well with the foreground

skintones. I do not know what the point is here, though...

when the face is so totally dark, the eye seeks the next

interesting subject - the necklace. Is this your point?

Tanja shot for a hair saloon portfolio during

Miss Hot Rod (!) competition makeup session. Background

is out of focus tin foil.

    Hi Tore!

What do you mean "one of the prettiest"? She is the prettiest,

and I can prove it :-)...

This was done with maximum portability, one 100x100 recta

sobo, and no assistants, so yes, the lighting was a bit off side...

but on the other hand, I like my portraits contrasty even though

they do not max out the flattening effect.

The background is a concrete wall, and the smudges are from the wall,

    so no strokes there.

Thanks for the lovely comment! I must peek into your folders soon...

    BR,
