Anybody have an idea for a viewfinder for a homebuilt 6x17? I have built a 6x17 and I have
used a door peep hole for the viewfinder but I would like to use something a little more
fancy. Are there any viewers I could use from other cameras even something with a zoom
if I use my 210mm lens?

Thanks, I just saw that thread, I am going to try that out thanks.

The camera was built using two 1950's 6x9 rangefinder cameras.

I built the 6x17 and I am using a sa 90mm 5.6. It focuses down to 17 inches.
Mr. Darcy Cote :-)

Thanks for the great response but I am using a 6x17 camera with a rangefinder and since
film will be in the camera at times, I won't be able to focus with my ground glass thus the
need for an optical rangefinder.

Hi there:
I was wondering what large format users use to measure distances so you can set your
DOF ect. I am taking an actual meter not dof charts.
Thanks

I noticed Shen hao has a 5x15 inch pan camera they are selling and apparently are making
a 7x17 inch camera. My question is where do you get film this size and what would be
type of film would be available?

I just have to finish off this thread although it is old. I called my local photo shop and they
had a used minolta spotmeter m on consignment. I payed only $80 US for it ($100 Can). It
works perfectly;excellent little meter. Wow awesome deal and I didn't have to bid on Epay.

Where did you get the slider to hold the front lens board or did you make it? I need one for
my project.

Thanks again for the advice. As a biologist by trade, I'll be shooting flowers, skulls, and
other objects that would look good as B&W photos.
Andy
I hope those are animal skulls :-)

Hi there:
I want to build a couple of these boards. I don't have one but I was wondering
if someone who does, if they could take a couple of close up shots and if you
are energetic, trace out the outer edge and scan it and send it to me?
thanks

I can't get to the website either. If anyone can, can you take a snapshot of the
website pages and post them?

I have noticed that there are lens board adapters that allow you to use a smaller lensboard
in the field. I have a Sinar f1. What are the smaller lensboards that are used and where can
I find more information about this?
thanks

I am wanting to purchase a film scanner for medium format and
principally 6x17cm panoramic scanning. The Microtek is in my price
range. Can you scan 6x17 on a microtek 120 tf without stitching? The
Polaroid software 5.6 for the polaroid 120 now allows you to scan up
to 6x24. Does the microtek software allow you? Could I use the
Polaroid software with the Microtek scanner being that they are the
same scanners? Does the silverfast ai6 software allow you to scan
6x17?
Thanks,

Thanks for the reply. What are the various ways to use a gel filter at the back of the lens? I
am sure they can be taped on but I am a little leary with that as I am concerned the tape
will damage the finish of my lens. Unless there is a special tape? is there?

Hi there:
I have a Schneider sa 90mm 5.6 non xl. I have been considering using a filter on the rear
of the lens. First of all what size is the filter and second would I get vignetting?
Thanks,

Thanks Paul, anybody have a front standard from a beat up 6x9 horseman tachnical camera that you want to part with or do you know where I can get one?
Thanks

Hi there:
I am looking to salvage a front standard from an older camera with decent movements for
a 6x17 camera I am building rather than building one from scratch. I would like it to be
more compact than say a Sinar f1 of which I have and possibly have a lens board that can
give me the capability to switch lenses quickly. Are there any recommendations?
Thanks

Where do you get one of these special holders? Does lee make it? The holder, does it
allow you to connect to the lee filter holder?

tables comparing formats
in Large Format
Posted
Where can I find a table that converts large formats into 35mm size for comparison?
for instance a 210mm lens on 5x7 format, what equivalent lens is this in 35mm format?
