1.
I am using the GP1 in combination with a D3X, and it works perfect. Only thing is i need a conversation cable for my remote control when used on tripod. And i do not agree with the word clunky, it is just a small black box to be put in the flash shoe on top of the camera .....

i own a huge collection of glass, and there is 1 lens that in my opinion fits your request.
It is a 17-35 2,8 to 4 DG AF HSM Aspherical produced by Sigma, and it is the version with a glass window over the distance scale, quite recent model. I used the lens on a cemetary and the clor fringing was very strong. For this reason i replaced this lens immediately with the Nikon 2.8 17-35 .The Sigma was an inexpensive lens, and i took the gamble ..... Probably many people will not agree with me, but for me this is the worst lens i have with respect to color fringing.

  3.
Iverson,
i bought one on the famous auction site, small amount like 50 euro. And the shipping costs were something like 25 eur also.
The seller was based in China, and the package arrived within a week !!!!
The quality of the adapter was very good, and the image results are ok.
My only reason for buying the adapter is that i would like to use the Pentax 120 soft focus lens on my Nikon, i do not have other soft focus lenses.
I have the same adapter also to use Hasselblad lenses on Nikon.
The seller on THE Auction Site i used was TonyZhang888, i used paypal, and was not disappointed.
I think it is fun to be able to use Pentax 67 lenses on a Nikon digiflex body. Bu ti am sure my nikon 105 micro nikkor will produce sharper results.

  4.
I just noticed that since today some shops have the new Nikon D7000 on stock in the Netherlands, interesting camera..... i would be very interested to see some raw files from this camera for comparison with D3X, just to see how good it performs, i am very curious on the image results of this new sensor.

  5.
My first contribution for Nikon Wednesday. Picture was made in Margraten the Netherlands, US War Cemetery.
Nikon D3X, F22 1/80 sec, 26mm, Nikon 24-70 2.8.
Transferred from RAW with Nikon Capture NX2

00XTU7-290075584.thumb.jpg.04a1a4f00bd96625840acbb30781934e.jpg

  6.
I have two options for the D3X, a Gitzo mountaineer with good ballhead, and a Manfrotto 161 MK II with the geared 400 head. THe Gitzo is for travelling, but i should change the ballhead for a different one.
THe D3X is to heavy already with a 70-200 lens .......
THe Manfrotto is a joy but i do not use D3X in portrait mode on this tripod

  7.
i wonder if some of our fellow photographers are strong like Arnold Schwarzenegger in his movies, given the amount of gear they have in their camera bags. Last saturday i bought a beautiful small leather bag that can have 1 SLr like D3X with 24-70 and 1 additional lens, approx same size.
I think the muscles in my shoulders and back will be grateful for the new bag. I know from experience that many times people drag around gear they do not use at all during a shooting day.
But i also know it is difficult to decide what to take when you go out.
I will try with 24-70 and 14-24 today ....... see if i feel short of something that is in my huge lens collection at home .

  8.
i am struggling to make a picture to put in my office on the wall. the subject are 11 bottles of Glenb morangie whisky, all different with beautiful boxes around them.

00VOY4-205849784.thumb.jpg.4e3cdc49568529208f6649def7d303f8.jpg

  9.
On December 26th, i celebrated my 50th birthday. Being a photographer since i was 17 or so, i decided that my birthday this year should be the opportunity to acquire a D3X. I was looking at this beautyful machine already for approximately one year but could not convince myself to spent so much money on a new camera. Already having used the D100, D200, D300 and D700 i expected some improvement, but the difference with my D700 is huge. I did not part of the D700 because it was still very little used, and will be used more often on occaisions where i do not want to bring in the D3X. Using the good quality lenses from Nikon, including the famous trio of 14-24, 24-70 and 70-200, i can only say that whenever people have any doubt on these 3 lenses, believe me, they are very very good, and a joy to use.
I will try to end this year with a picture of a collection of 11 different bottles of very fine single malt whisky produced by one single distiller. Just something i like to do , not for business or so, if the result pleases me, i will publish here on photo.net

May i please use this opportunity to wish all fellow photographers around the globe a prousperos 2010 with many pictures that set your heart on fire ......

  10.
Fellow Photographers,
we read many times that we are send away while taking pictures. Yesterday the opposite happened to me. I was with a fellow photographer at the American War Cemetary in Margraten the Netherlands. These holy grounds are very well conserved, and very well managed to look as beautiful as possible. I have been here with a camera several times already. Yesterday a manager from this facility came to us and asked if we were interested to take some picture from the top of the belltower of the monument !!! You can imagine we were very interested and happy to be able to do so. The manager gave us a key and asked to switch off the light and return the key after finishing. This is something i have not experienced before. After climbing many many stairs with 2 camera bags and a monopod we reached the top of the belltower of the monument. We had a very beautiful view from the top. We spent 45 minutes at the belltower taking pictures.
So very special thanks to this friendly person here !!!!!
This is quite the opposite experience we frequently have when taking pictures anywhere in the world , not doing any harm, but being bullied by security people that probably have nothing else to do .
I feel obliged to to put some pictures in this message if the quotation system from this website still allows me.

00UAVp-163321584.thumb.jpg.bb2bde7085eceae52df71dd8d39783c3.jpg
