1.
could this be Newton rings from scanning?

 2.

"Still have the 17-50 (non-VC) as my primary walk around lens on a D300. My copy has been sharp, with none of the issues you mentioned. It has served me well for a good many years."

Exactly the same here^^

 3.

"...there is more competition within Nikon between the D500 and D7200..."

I dont see a competion there, the D500 is for D300 fans, the D7200 for Idontknowwhat fans^^

 4.
Thats the reason why 600mm lenses are buildt^^

 5.

"The viewfinder image is then upside down and rather disorienting because you have to look at it from the side"

Same here, its kind of psychedelic^^

 6.
Go with the 180 "super", written in red letters.
The 55 is wide but a little harsh, take the 65.

 7.

"YES, the issue is with all (3 nikons 1.8g's and a sigma 1.4) manual focus AND autofocus mode."

Maybe you are a little unclear how the AF of your Nikon works, it uses an own sensor and has NOTHING to do with the mirror.

 8.

"...With the exception of the Mamiya C330, lenses are not interchangeable. Even then, both the taking and viewing lenses are changed together, with a very limited range of focal lengths...."

C330 lenses I have owned (in mm): 55, 65, 80, 105, 135, 180, 250.
For my understanding this is not "very" limited^^

 9.
I have never done AF fine-tune, so maybe i dont understand it, I think it tunes the AF for some lenses, but the AF doesnt use the mirror, so I dont see the point, backfocus from missaligned mirror can only be an issue in manual focus mode

 10.

"and use af fine-tune"

dont get that point,
either you use AF or MF, only here correct mirroralignment is important

 11.
you dont know what an auto diaphragm is alltogether?
An automatic diaphragm keeps the lens wide open for focusing and stop it down to the set aperture when you click^^

 12.
or try to avoid that lights inside the frame

 13.
I dont understand all that exitement, D500 buyers will know why they buy it , and others think its too expensive, but nobody is forced to get it, D7200 and D750 and all the other cams are still on sale.

 14.

Tamron 17-50

+1

 15.
good news for the friends of the D200 body, 7xxx users will not understand.^^

 16.

but it is very strange that there is a long gap between the 2007 D300 (with a minor 2009 update to the D300S with the same electronics) and the 2016 D500

You just have to interpolate the D400^^

 17.
Beside the issues with the shop you need faster lenses for weddings, light isnt allways that great, so go with 2.8 or faster.

 18.

"Depth-of-field depends on the circle-of-confusion chosen, which scales with format size"

There is a reason why they are called circles of confusion^^

 19.

I really get sick of this claim to Leica magic, which of course can only be seen by acolytes and priests of the cult of Leitzology.

+1

 20.
if you buy a replacment look for the newer full enclosed design; with the half open older finders I often had the problem that in bright situations I just saw my mirrored face on the ground glass.

 21.

and wouldn't be able to achieve at least some DOF/ out of focus areas.

Maybe you should learn about the basics,
1.DOF is a product from Aperture and Magnification
2. Nikon F Flange distance is much larger than M43, this may be good with Teles but not with Wides, which need a complicated retrofocus design. M43 Wides are better suited for use on M43^^

 22.
a second hand bargain lense is the 180/2.8 AF-d Nikkor and its very good.

 23.

I ended up going with a Mamiya RZ67

go with an RB, its more stable and works fully mechanical,
and you can use Mamyia 6x8 backs, some dudes milled out the revolving back to use eg. Horseman 6x9 back.

 24.

how to transport enough individually sealed desiccant

you can use salt and dry it in a pan

 25.

I want a camera with more control through movements.
is the camera small enough to be used handheld?

How will you use movements handheld?
