It's early fall here in Massachusetts. Most of the trees are just
starting to turn, but a few appear to be on fire with their brilliant
color. This shot was taken from a bridge on Route 2 in the western
part of the state. I used my 100mm lens at f/4 and ISO-100 on my Canon
Digital Rebel. There's very little Photoshop processing here -- just
the beautiful colors of nature. Comments, as always, are encouraged
and appreciated.

As always, I'd appreciate your comments.

This shot is of the gear drive of a 19th century telescope. Commentswill be greatly appreciated on any aspect of the image.
It was taken at f/4.5 and ISO-1600 for 1/13th of a second (handheld!)on my Digital Rebel with the 28-135 lens. I spent a little whiletuning this image up. Neatimage got ride of most of the ISO noise. In Photoshop I desaturated most of the image a lot, and the bronzehues less so. This seemed to age it a bit. I then did a curvesadjustment to bring down the blacks (I hope everyone's display iscalibrated like mine!) to add some mystery. A final USM brought outthe gear detail nicely, IMHO.
What do you think? It is intrinsically interesting? Could I haveprocessed it differently?
Thanks for your comments.

I'd crop this even tighter, so that you couldn't see the edges of building, giving the impression that it repeats in all directions forever.

Nice lines.

Well done. Perhaps a slight improvement would be to move the woman closer?

It seems like this image could be crisper. Is it out of focus or in need of an USM?

I'd prefer to see this in color. Also, the hair over the eye on the right is distracting.

This moody technical shot is a bit of an experiment. Comments please.

Comments please on all aspects of this photo.

Good idea. I think that it could be improved by having one page that can be clearly seen.

Just great!

I love all of the elements of this photo!

Amazing image. I think that it needs some pop, though. Perhaps turn a few knobs in Photoshop?

Another shot you could have tried is this: from the same level as the people, and with a landscape view so that the mountains rise up strongly behind them.

...and there's a story here. It's too bad that the lighting didn't illuminate their faces more.
