Thank you Barb. Its nice to know older images still get viewed occasionally. I admit to prejudice, since I took it, but I have always liked this image myself.

  1. Thank you Pascal. The color of the water in the Colorado River depends on location. The river starts in Rocky Mountain National Park and the water is definately not red up there. By the time it reaches Southern Utah and Arizona however, it is another story. The water takes on the color of the landscape for sure.
  2. I am studying business administration. I am hoping to learn enough to open my own photography business and be successful at it. I have tried a couple of other business ventures in the past that were total busts. Before I go that route again I would like to know how to avoid the pitfalls. Thats the plan anyway.
  3. Hi Kim

I am currently a full time student at Colorado State University. At my age I don't know if it makes any sense or not but its much too late to back out now.

Going to school is enormously time consuming. It has kept me so busy, I haven't had a chance to devote much time to photography in ages.

Yes its a car. Actually I think there were two cars. I did a lot of experimentation with night shooting from that location. This was about 4 AM in the morning. I was driving to the airport to catch an early flight back to Colorado. I decided to make one last stop by the river on the way.

Taking photos in the dark is not an easy thing to do. Its hit and miss with a lot more misses than hits. Even under a full moon, framing an image is a challenge. Focusing the lens is even more so. For the most part autofocus doesn't work at all and its tricky doing it manually. And then you confront the problem of getting the right exposure.

Bottom line, this may not be great art, but I had a ton of fun taking it.

  4. Thank you Kim. I spent a lot of time in that area of California last year and took this the first morning I was able to get down to the river. I never did see it covered with clouds like this again. Its a pretty place in general, but that morning it was spectacular.
