GREAT capture...why don't we have these guys down here in Miaoli county? The color is fantastic...wonder how they'd be posed in a studio? (but then again, it wouldn't be a candid cultural shot?)...
-
Overall, I really like it. I actually like the shadow under the chin, but I like odd things. I'm particularly fond of how you used the towel...
-
Nice shot, good tones and compostion...
-
I simply love this shot :-)....but then again, I think it may be a shot of me in another 20 years :-)...I really like the nice tight crop, and the concentration on the face of the guy in the black hat...
-
Great post on the feedback forum, got me perusing your stuff. I REALLY like this one, but I really like shots of the homeless (and your caption is perfect). I might have cropped it this way, or I might have cropped a bit more off the right side and a bit more off the sidewalk (errr, and maybe cloned out the car to bring the focus more on the guy, who is visually fascinating)...BUT, that's what I would have done (maybe, dunno...seriously), and it AIN'T what you would have done, which I like very much :-).

Okay, this ENTIRE series is *priceless* from a humor standpoint, and also incredible from a social standpoint, however, THIS shot really is my favorite, the look on his face, and the fact that she is appearently oblivious...
...GREAT series, GREAT concept...maaaan, there are definitely people around brighter than I am, lol...

Hmmm, I find the face position quite natural, although her eyes looking in that direction lead me to wonder "What is she looking at?" I prefer this image aesthetically to the other, although I find the other similar image in this folder more intellectually fascinating :-).
-
What a fascinating face, I disagree with the idea of more cropping, the eye follows back from a VERY detailed face giving a hint of the whole person...

Alec & Kim, thanks....I had a feeling that this one was on its last legs, any recommendations for monitors?
-
Regarding a comment above, I think that some people, in their tireless quest for the new, forget that before you can explore new areas in the arts, you need to have a foundation in the basics (something which I lack, and work on constantly). Maybe what she sould have seen in this picture is that in one's quest for the new, one must remember the old...

I can not tell you which one I prefer, I rated them both the same, they are both incredible portraits of beauty and life.
-
Eh? I love this shot because of exactly what it is, a shot of a person relaxing and enjoying a cigarette...maybe its just that I've seen this particular scene played out so many times, but to me this shot has captured a moment in life, and as such is fantastic...far from being a snapshot, it seems more documentary to me, very sponteneous...

One word: WOW! 7/7 (and I never 'fess up to ANY rating)...

Good lord, getting ANY cat to pose without the use of duct tape and wire coat hangers is a minor miracle (and now you know why *my* cat runs whenever he sees the camera :-D). Cats can be very hard to shoot, and you've really done this one justice, I dunno if it is my monitor, or if its just the nature of the beast in the shot, but there doesn't seem to be as much detail in the fur as I think is really there...how did you light this one? Still a great shot (but I'm such a huge fan of black cats, partially because of the incredible fur textures).
Oh, and a comment on Zunnan's cat image: *priceless* :-D...
-
So simple, but elegant :-). A softbox, I have so much to learn about studio lighting...
-
In addition to this being a beautiful shot, I am fascinated by it, and by this particular use of light...how did you light this?
-
Beautiful lighting, beautiful nude :-).
-
Pedro, I love this...I love the shadows!
-
I agree, the contrast of the people and the statues is wonderful. The man with the camera is great (and reminds me of something I do whenever there is more than one photographer at an event...I always try to photograph the photographer photographing me....the results are TERRIBLE, but fun.....THIS is an example of how photographing the photographer SHOULD be done). The tones are beautiful and the composition excellent.

I can't believe I rated this, but forgot to comment. Ahh well, must have been tired that day. I love the textures created by the shawl, DOF is definitely to my taste...very good shot :-).
-
Heh, go figure. The one that *I* prefer out of this folder is the one that is overall rated lowest (never claimed to have the same tastes as anyone else). HOWEVER, this one also has something that bugs me, so I can offer something other than a "Woohoo! I love it" comment. The lines in the window frame not being paralel to the side of the shot gives it an askew feel that bugs me (when I turn it in my mind looking at it, it is prob'ly one of the shots I like best of those I've seen recently). Anyway, thanks for the comment on one of my shots (even though I *do* disagree with you, he he).
6/6 on this one, am tempted to give it a 7/7 because I think the overall rating is FAR too low, but it isn't my place to try and make up for other people's ratings that I feel are too low (no matter how tempting).
-
I love it. The shadows on the left of her face, the textures and drape of the cloth, lines in the light, and lines in the background. Excellent shot.
-
Darnit, I am TRYING to follow the photo.net guidelines of not rating so many shots so highly, but...darnit...maybe its just that I only click on thumnails I know I'm gonna love.
I absolutely love the lighting and tones in this shot. If I'd had the model and the lights, I OF COURSE would have done it differently, but I'm not you. What you've done with this is simply stunning. Leaving the clothing there has given wonderful textures to contrast the smooth skin tones (and I'm a sucker for great skin tones). The blue is perfect with the expression, for my taste. Incredible...

Fascinating image, I love shooting from inside dark rooms while exposing for outside...however, this shot is FAR more interesting than what I've run across for windows to date :-).
