cfimages 0 Posted April 10, 2005 Matsu is the Chinese God of sailors and fisherman. Every year in Centtral Taiwan, there is an 8 day Matsu pilgrimage to celebrate the God's birthday, where the icon is taken from his home in Jhenlan Temple, Dajia and paraded around a 300km circuit of central Taiwan. Yesterday was the first day, which sees groups of people from various temples come to the Jhenlan temple in Dajia to pay their respects, in an orgy of sound, color and chaos. Here are 2 of the participants on the day, taking a rest. Technical note - there are some clipped shadows in this, it was very tricky lighting. Link to comment

acearle 1 Posted April 15, 2005 GREAT capture...why don't we have these guys down here in Miaoli county? The color is fantastic...wonder how they'd be posed in a studio? (but then again, it wouldn't be a candid cultural shot?)... Link to comment
