  1. The movie National Treasure inspired us to take the kids to D.C. Tops

on their list was to see the Declaration of Independence on display at

    the National Archives.

    Comments/critiques welcomed. Thanks, Tom.

Thanks Cherlyn & Sherwin. Yes, they are sisters. A spontaneous moment that I could not have posed nearly as well as they did on their own.

    > I think in that crop the section with beautiful light is missing.

I would agree with that. I could also see this as a beautiful panoramic with a crop of just the bottom (amount the same is in my prior crop). That would reduce the rock in the foreground and still leave that nice light in the right hand side that I cropped away before.

Wow. A beautifully captured image with terrific exposure and dynamic range. I might be tempted to do a little cropping (as so many of us seem to like to do) to reduce the emphasis of the big rock in the foreground. To me, this is too centered and draws attention away from the fantastic interplay going on in the background with the sky, sea and land. I've included a suggested crop to offset that rock a little and reduce its prominence.

Excellent image. I like how you've darkened that background and make the horses head stand out so dramatically.

Curious though, how long do you have to wait for the animal to run around and get in a position such as this to capture? Are they playful and always stirring up the dust or does this type of photography require a large amount of time and paitience waiting for the right pose to come along?

    Thanks, Tom.

Nicely captured, Richard. I like the fact the arms and oars are all angled the same; makes for a nice repetition of shape & line throughout the image. As others have already noted, the facial expressions reveal the efforts each individual is undergoing at that moment. Good work.
  2. Terrific shot Sondra. I love the fact that this is taken at night with no one around. I was there during the cherry blossom festival last year and there were thousands of people milling around. I could not do this memorial the justice that you have done.

Nice angles, Richard. I like the rotation, it makes the ordinary quite interesting. Rather than correct for perspective distortion you have done a great job making it the primary compositional element. Well done.
