I just scanned my film from yesterday and yes, the subject is overexposed with the use of reflective meter. I think in situations like these I just have to close down a stop or brackett.

Yesterday's hike and blueberry picking. (after considerable burning)

Sorry to be late to this. I posted the question and went hiking with kids. Now I'm back after coming home, processing a roll of film and making him dinner.
My meter is Sekonic L351. I definitely know that I need to point the meter back at the photographer. FWIW today at the hike I compared reading in full sunlight with the meter and with meter in Canon 1V and wouldn't you know it they came back the same. So it's just my crying over overexposing frames that I would love to get just perfect... ;-)

I use an incident meter with my M3. It appears that it exposes properlu indoors and under overcast conditions but when I bright sunlight itseems to overexpose by a stop. Do you have similar experience?

I don't spray the foliage.

Thanks Jack. I might if I need to but it's not really essential for this pic. It won't make it past w/nw ;-)

That looks sweet Marc. Could you take a pic of it next to your M camera?

Matt, the tri elmar is going. The collapsible could stay home but the size and weight are not a factor at all. I thought I could utilize it for when F2 would be nice. But it might just stay home anyway. I shot 99 procent between F8 and F16 last time.

David - here in lies my other conundrum. Last trip I went alone I just could not pack a tripod. But I would like to ;-). This trip I have a 14 year old and an 8 year old with me. I think the 14 year old could pick up a lot of stuff to justify for me carrying a tripod. It's just so damn heavy with respect to backpacking stuff.

Words of wisdom David.
Yes I will use the tri elmar with the M3. 50 is there, 35 is slightly ouside of the whole viewfinder and 28 will be a crapshoot. Heh.
For continuit's sake, most likely it will remain the Velvia, especially when last time I started with remaining roll of Provia 400 and did not like the results. (I love Provia 400 but for different settings)

Ehm. I don't even know what it is. ;-)
Link?

Oops. Sorry. My phone browser timed out on confirm. I did not know it posted.

Eric. Continuity is very much on my mind. I didn't have to use ND's last time but I'm thinking about taking the large square Cokin and just hold it in front of the lens if necessary. I hate polarizer I won't be taking it. I shot the new emulsion Velvia 100 last time. What a great film.

Last year I undertook a 14 day hike through Wyoming. I hiked all alone and shot Velvia along the way. I like Velvia.

On August 15th of this year I'm going again to complete sections I missed last year. This time I'm taking my 2 boys with me. I want to only take one kind of film and I'm sure that this time my shots will involve their presence.

Should I still take Velvia or which film will give me a great color saturation without screwed up skin tones? Or is the skin tone issue blown out of proportion?

I don't want to do Kodachrome 64. My lab won't develop it and I don't want to send it.

P.s. To make it LF relevant I used M6 last time with 35mm summicron. This time I'm going to use M3 with Tri Elmar and 50mm collapsible summicron.
