I shot one more batch of this old Pontiac:

wow. Nels, best batch from you AFAIK. Regit - great shots too.

It's hard to find an M3 with a bright patch today. The silver deteriorates with age. My M3 has a rebuilt patch and it is bright and virtually flare free.
-
While #3 is logical to occur, do you think the opposite of # is just as likely?

On average twice per week. I don't shoot a lot of frames though. Usually about 10 frames per shooting. I'm low volume shooter unless I'm on 'assignment'. I'm still using 512mb cards and that is enough. 2 rolls per month are a norm for me.

When I go on a dedicated shooting then I shoot a lot(for my style), easily about 100 frames per shooting.

I guess that's the last time Leica sent Putz a prototype. :-)

Nachtwey shoots film for black and white work and digital for color unless he is on assignment for press where he HAS to use digital because they request the images immediately. He will then shoot digital and upload pics via sat phone.
-
Congratulations. What a wonderful feeling that your work is shown.
-
Welcome back Nels. We carried the "new stuff" torch a few times for you. It's all yours again. ;-)

I don't put much on Erwin's conclusions but...
If Erwin's conclusion was that the image is superior to the Canon then I would have thought that testing a prime lens vs a Canon zoom isn't fair but...
Getting spanked by Canon zoom isn't groovy either.
P.S. I still believe that the M8 is a great camera capable of great images in the right hands.

If you need auto focus, or long lenses, or macro, or ultra high ISO settings or rapid frame rates then get DSLR

Does anyone else think this is a little bit funny?
-
I think I claimed/wished it would be full frame. Oh well. I sold some stuff this week and actually had enough to buy the M8. I decided not to buy it even though it looks awesome.

If a thread is not thought worth saving or covers ground that has been gone over time and time again in past threads, it will be deleted.

If a thread covers a topic that has been covered before I would say that a NEWER thread should be considered for keeps and the older thread to be deleted. It would at least make the readers who google the thread think that the site is active with current information.

Also if I wanted to contact some of the members who answered the question it is far more likely that the members in the NEWER thread are still active for response as opposed to contacting someone from a 3 year old thread who might not be available anymore.

Paul, I have immigrated to the USza in 1989. I'm an American now. I was born in the Czech Republic.

hmm. not bad. I expected worse from reading previous post on S&D. I liked what he had to say. Too bad that the music and the editing with quick changes added a hectic overtone to what he was saying. There was the excitement of the street with talking about how to blend in (in supposedly non-hectic way). We Americans like to talk in superlatives so being invisible doesn't really match what he was actually doing but in a way it was a good way to more around and shoot. I liked a few of the shots, especially the one of the couple and the two cars just meeting in front of them. The whole whing was frozen by the movie camera but I would have looked like a super shot.

Peter. Please add me to your contacts. Click on my image to find me on Flickr. Loved your shots of late.

Glen,
Monopod = good, 2.8@250 or 320 set to manual, shoot raw and fix your wb then if necessary, you can also recover 2 stops from corners or situations where your manual setting underexposes. Separating focus from shutter = good. AI servo = good, continuous = good.
Every rink is different. After a few shoots at a certain rink you will be able to adjust your manual settings.
200mm lens = good
