also at the beginning of RD1 we just heard negatives and misconceptions until someone who can actually see and take a picture posts some decent examples.

You've got your self a combination of a crappy lens with crappy filter and probably a crappy lens hood.

My 1.4 too has stopped working in AF. I keep using it in AF but I would like to hear of some home remedies that fixed the glitch short of sending it to Canon service center.

 

The lens is outstanding in my mind. I shot ton's of nice pics with it.

heh. Thanks Craig. I've got to figure out how to come down to Tasmania. I think I would have to sell about 2000 of these postcards to get a plane ticket. ;-)

Sorry to hear that. Last time it happened to me, it was tough few weeks, turned into a 6 month search for a job during which I built a boat during the spare time and after those 6 months I landed a job where I get treated better. I hope the best for you. Change could be a very good thing.

Perhaps, if we were only LOOKING at the shutters then your analogy might begin to make slight sense. A photograph will get framed and hanged on a wall. From then on you are just going to LOOK at it and it will be all about the picture. You won't take it out of the frame once a month to sniff the fibers.
