Great lighting and composition. I think the only thing that could improve this shot is if the two women were facing each other rather than the one having her back square to the camera.

Nice scene. The shot could use some more contrast. Also, I see what you're trying to do with framing by using the branches at top and left, but I don't think it adds much because they're so out of focus and because the branches at the top blend in too much with the background.

My first thought was "too dark," but then I looked at it and realized that the appeal of this shot is the darkness and the subtle gradiation betwen the layers of mountains. The mountain pass at upper right is a great photo in and of itself; the braided river below is icing on the cake.
That said, I see two issues here. First, the left side of the frame is very, probably too, imposing; because of the limited detail remaining in the river at that point, it may make sense to crop. Also, there is a bit of flare at bottom center; it's a bit distracting. It doesn't kill the shot, and cropping it out would be disastrous, so it's just going to have to stay and remind you to use a hat or something to keep the sun off your front lens element when the sun isn't actually in the frame. Tricky here, I know, maybe even impossible, but by all means try.
Edit: I just noticed you joined a couple days ago. Welcome to photo.net!

Interesting shot; I'm guessing she's a street performer? Pity it's a bit blurry, but there is plenty of detail here to let us know what's going on.

Nice composition. Contrast looks a little soft, but that's easily adjustable.

Outstanding use of near-IR. The tonal range is excellent, the composition works very well, and the overall product is almost dreamlike. I really enjoy this shot.

The composition is good, but the highlights are far too overexposed. There are no shadows here to speak of, but there is a lot of featureless white. I think the exposure should have been dialed down by at least half a stop.

Part of a digital infrared series I did a while back. I tend to post
these full-frame and take cropping suggestions. Any thoughts on
cropping the left side of the frame?
Thanks for your comments and ratings.

Dave, this was shot with a Mamiya C330f twin lens reflex and the 55mm lens, using a Hoya R72 filter and Ilford SFX 200.
Thanks for the comments so far. Looking at this now, I can see that the scan was a little flat; the print shows a lot better. I think I need to upgrade my flatbed scanner when I get home from Kuwait.

Separ is a small collection of crumbling buildings next to a
truckstop in southern New Mexico. One hundred years ago, it was a
mustering point for cavalry soldiers on their way to support General
Pershing's punitive expedition into Mexico against Pancho Villa. How
times change...

I don't see much improvement in the contrast level here, and my monitor is calibrated pretty well. I see light gray and dark gray, not black and white. Sharper contrast would help this a great deal. I would have expected darker waters with the 87C filter.
As far as composition, I still think it's overly centered. I would recommend cropping some off the bottom and some off the left side so the reflection of the pipe and the edge of the foundation both lead the eyes better to the pipe and the portion of the foundation above water.
Hope this helps.

I like this a lot -- the irregular edges make for a great, unique frame.

This bombed-out hangar is actually a leftover from the Iraqi
invasion. It's fascinating to see how much war damage has remained
unrepaired from 1990-91 here, but then again, maybe Kuwait prefers to
remember...

Can't say, for security reasons.

This is the glory and the beauty that is a Kuwaiti sunrise. This was
not taken during a sandstorm; the haze here all comes from pollution
from the oil industry and the nearby airport. Thanks for your
comments.

Empty water bottles and concrete "Texas barriers" are two sights you
just can't avoid on American posts here in the Persian Gulf. Thanks
for your comments.

I see what you're trying to do with this photo, but the industrial aspect seems too much like an afterthought here. Also, the flower in the immediate foreground is not in the field of focus, which throws me off from the rest of the photo.

I managed to catch this Kuwaiti T-55 on a relatively clear day at
sunset, not easy to do with the frequent dust storms and prevailing
pollution from the oil wells and refineries. What do you think?
