  1. I found a package of Ilford ID11 I purchased in the mid 80’s. Worked every bit as good a new.
  2. I’ll second what Ed said here. The most you’ll pull from a V600 and 35mm is around 8mp of info. The grain won’t render that well either. It is fine for possibly and 8x10 print...but next to the same print side from a Nikon 5000 or even a Plustek 8100 for example....you’ll see the benefits of the extra Rez and dynamic range.
  3. The statement was made that 6mp equals a 35mm Velvia frame. I proved that to be incorrect. Thus, the discussion is indeed over....and welcome to my ignore list.
  4. The discussion was resolution. I can improve acutance by sharpening in post. And who cares where the test comes from? You seem to have this issue in an attempt to divert from the results. I presume when the COVID vaccine comes out, you will do your own tests because citing others makes it false. The film won. It surpassed 12mp. It is better than 6mp. Discussion over.
  5. Just a couple samples. First from 8mp, then from 12mp, then from Velvia 100. What was that about 6mp being a match again!
  6. I’m happy to post a challenge. If Velvia has more than 6mp, I get all of the camera gear of the naysayer. Anyone care to play a game?
  7. I think if you do the math, you will quickly see that to resolve 80 lp/mm takes more than 6mp. You won’t find anyone thinking 35mm Velvia only has 6mp of Rez...and your figure of 80 LP/mm is proof of that. My Canon 10D didn’t get close to what I get from Astia and Velvia.
  8. The Babylon 13 film is a beautiful film. I used HC110 to develop as it gives a tad more contrast and a moody look. Post your results when you finish. I highly recommend this film
  9. The V600 is lucky to actually resolve 2200 to 2400 ppi. With that, I would set to 3200 and leave it there. With a high Rez scanner, you can benefit from more. For example, scanning fine grain films and comparing 4000 ppi with 6300 for example on an Imacon, looking at a 16x24 or larger print, there is a bit more detail and a natural look in comparison. The grain looks better. Splitting hairs really. For 35mm, the new Plusteks released the last few years are pretty decent and will surpass your V600
  10. I was involved in some of the testing. We compared maps. You are wrong. End of story. Here’s a scan sampling showing the actual Rez of MF Provia in a high Rez scan slightly exceeding the IQ180. The IQ 180 greatly outresolves the Sony. In B&w, the MF film far, far outresolves the IQ180 and thus the Sony. Thus, you are incorrect here as well. Don’t tell me to shut up. You are clearly out of your depth here.
  11. Mauro passed away a number of years ago, so he will obviously not be replying. As to differing maps, they were also passed around and comparisons were made showing the detail between all the maps to be the same. A nice MF Chrome will still outresolve the Sony...nothing has changed there.
  12. I still do a fair bit of bulk loading as the savings can be substantial. Initial up front cost, which is slight, is not an issue for long term savings.
  13. I routinely rated Fuji Pro 400H at iso 100 to 125 for wedding work..and spot metering for the shadow under the chin. This builds up density in the film....reduces grain and acutance. Color saturation is increased and I then adjust in scanning. It all depends on the film. I do it with Portra and Fuji pro...not with Ektar.
