    foggy landscape

The image captures the mood of the scene very well. I think the composition is perfect. Congratulations, Phil
  2. A very pleasant scene with excellent composition. Well done, Phil p.s.  If there's any spare water-send it our way in California
  3. The lighting and composition go together to make this a wonderful image.  I can almost smell the salt air.  Congratulations, Phil
  4. Really nice shot. I find that images like this recall the experience of the trip. Congratulations, Phil
  5. Thanks for your viewing and comment. Trying to achieve images that reflect some sense of their fragility and beauty is a real challenge. Fortunately as I have noted in earlier posts our garden provides a gathering place for both hummingbirds and butterflies. Thanks again, Phil

  10. Thanks for your viewing and comment. I think the mood of this ghost town is better captured in b & w in most cases. Thanks again, Phil
  11. Thanks for viewing and your comment. Luckily these subjects are literally in my back yard. Getting good shots and lighting is a real challenge. It's a lot like trying to make a still life with the subject continuously moving out of the frame. Thanks again, Phil
  12. Thank you for your viewing and comment.  I have found photographing them is very rewarding-as well as challenging.  Today in my garden I happened to see two of these Swallowtails together-there wasn't a photo opportunity, but I realized the time I have spent photgraphing them has enhanced my appreciation of their beauty.  Thanks again, Phil

A wonderful image; the colors all work together  and provides a classic mood for the photo. Congratulations, Phil
  14. I really like the B & W treatment. In particular in addition to the comments noted earlier, the tonality bring out the aged look of the building. congratulations, Phil
  15. Thanks for your comment. So far this has been a great butterfly season-and these guys are 30 ft. from my back door! Thanks again, Phil

Wonderful color and the thoughtful composition conveys almost a dreamlike mood to me.  Congratulations, Phil
  17. Wonderful colors and great composition. Congratulations, Phil
  18. Thanks for viewing and your comment.  I worked on the earlier image generally following Tony's thoughts. I like this image compared to the other version.  Thanks again, Phil

Thank you for your viewing and suggestions.  Looking at the image now, I realize I cropped it too close on the right hand side.  I had played around with the vignetting before uploading; looking at it now, the reason I didn't use more vignetting as probably that the radius was too large and was darkening more of the print than I wanted.  I really appreciate your suggestions, even when I approach the image differently than you, your comments always make me review what I did and why.  Thanks again, Phil
