  2. Very nice image. I like the idea that you left the power line and pole I think the vertical format works well. For me, I would like to see the foreground area a little lighter. The scene provides a sense of place that I'm sure will "wear well with time". Congratulations, Phil

Thank your for viewing and kind comment. I am still trying to develop a consistent approach to portraying flowers.

    Fishing Village in Malta

Wonderful image. The result of the composition, color and subject evokes the thought of really being there. Congratulations, Phil
  8. Beautiful image and colors.  I think the cropped version is a slight improvement, although the centering of the house wasn't a problem for me (maybe because of the leading line provided by the flowers).  Congratulations, Phil
  9. I think it's better somewhat darker.  I'm not sure patience is one of my virtues-I'll have to ask my wife, she may know of one.  Thanks, Phil
  10. Wonderful "painterly" and moody image. Congratulations, Phil
  11. Thanks for viewing and comments. This was my first visit to Grand Canyon National Park. I found the persistent haze to be a real problem. We had some intermittent rain storms so I tried to make the best use of those occasions. Next trip I hope to s;end some time at the bottom of the canyon. Thanks again, Phil

    Dancers on a String

Thanks for your viewing and comments. I have watching these blooms for a few days and finally was able to find the right afternoon light. As I mentioned above I'm still working on the image. Thanks again, Phil

    Dancers on a String

Thanks for your viewing and comment. I still think it's lacking something in the post processing-still looking for a somewhat more "glowing" or ethereal look. Maybe trying some different blending modes with layers. Still a work in process. Thanks again, Phil

    Dancers on a String

These two fuschia blooms reminded me of two dancers. Your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
  20. Thanks for viewing and comment. This is the first Western Tanager I've seen this year. As I mentioned above, I'm probably the laziest bird photographer in the world. My Nikon D7100 with the Nikon 80-400 mm sits on a file cabinet behind me, and I periodically check out the window looking for interesting backyard birds around our water feature. Thanks again, Phil

    Allen's Hummingbird

Thanks for your comment. Hummingbirds and butterflies represent a real challenge for me. Fortunately, we seem to have a fair amount of them in our yard so there are ample opportunities to work at it. Thanks, Phil
  22. <p>I have been using the 1542T for a couple of years with the RRS BH-30 head for my Nikon D800 with 14-24mm, 24-70 mm and 70-200 mm (f/4) lenses. This combination allows the legs to be folded back into the head and fits into the Gitzo bag. It has worked out very well-stable, compact, and lightweight. The center column of the 1542T can be removed and the head mounted on top of the base plate if desired to further reduce the weight or for ground level shots.</p>
