As arranged it looks very flag like. I like it rotated counter-clockwise 90 also. I would like to see just that last tiny bit if crispness in the focus. Very creative close-up!

Has a mysterious, noir, almost cold-war feel. "The late night, clandestine meeting in a hotel in Prague or East berlin". Technically well done with a dark mood that allows the viewer to create the back-story of her choice.

Why did you choose a red dress and a red background? the dress is totally lost against the background. Use PS to change the color of the background at least to a darker red.

Cute little bandit. When most of the comments are about the subject rather than the photo, you know you have it right. The photo has become invisible, and the subject is all there is. Very well done!

Striking! Lovely eyes. The eyes are the soul of the photo. You could crop everything but the eyes in this photo and it would still be a good portrait.

This is a lovely portrait. I would crop it closer. A closer crop would add emphasis to her striking eyes. I must note that almost all of your posted portraits seem overly dark. The tonality is rich and the detail is exquisite, but it seems like you need to +15% on the brightness.

"In Flanders Field the poppies grow,

Between the crosses row on row..."

It doesn't seem to matter whether it is Flanders Field, or Korea, or Viet Nam, or Kosovo, or or Iraq. The politicians keep making the same stupid decisions, and innocents keep dieing. Respect the warrior no matter how much you detest the war, and the politicians that chose to waste the lives and resources.

I don't mean to go off on a rant, but the photo is a political statement by design. It is impossible to remove the statement from the image.

  1. David, are you familiar with the "flinch test" method of setting the price for a photograph? It goes like this...

Compute a price you think is fair, then double it and quote it to the buyer. If he does not flinch, add the price of the acid free matting. If he does not flinch, add the price of the frame. If he does not flinch, add the price of the ultraviolet reflective glass. (ALL glass except special flint glass filters ultraviolet rays)Keep adding features until the buyer flinches, then reduce the price by 10% and call it a "special price for a special client".

And BTW, MEN are from Mars, Women are from Venus!

I like the close-up and the exaggerated color. The sharpening sparkle is a bit overdone. I think there is some promise if you tone the tweaking down a bit

Very naturalistic portrait. Lovely relaxed pose, lovely smile. I would liked to see a bit more crispness to the focus around the eyes. The eyes are the soul of any portrait.
