    Beach Gal

I noticed you used Tri-X film. This is a high speed film (asa 400) which is faster than you needed for a sunny day at the beach. I am certain that this film cost you some detail in the sand and water that would have been better captured on a slower film. As to other details... The half person in the back ground is extraneous and distracting. Crop him out. The woman is seated at the left-of-center and facing out of the frame. If she were facing into the frame it would be better. You could have waded out into the water and looked back at the woman for a more dramatic photo.

    Stress

Definitely late nite feel. Just a thought... what if you could see the numerals on the clock to read 2:09 like early morning? For American viewers, stress would be the 1040 tax form instead of an open book test. *S*
  1. I like the fact that you take a closeup rather than an indeterminate, intermediate shot. This particular photo lacks anything with which to compare for scale. A non-military observer doesn' know how big the rounds are. They could be the size of shotgun shells, beer cans, or 16 in naval rounds.
  2. One of those moments! Excellent color and composition. The driftwood leads the eye to the sunrise. Excellent depth of focus in a low light situation. You never get these shots unles you get out of bed!! Nice work.

    ecstacy of gold

The interest in the photo comes from the conflict between the natural and the man-made. The grass and the high-rise. The color is good. Might have benefited from a little greater depth of focus so that the high rise is a little more visible.
  3. What is the object of the photo? Is it the bicycle? If so, you have cropped the photo too closely.

Is it the snow? If so you have lost the detail of the snow by improper exposure. To emphasise the snow, use sidelight to shadow the surface detail and reduce the contrast.

Is the object the weed? This would be my choice. Crop out the bicycle entirely and do a "brush and ink" high contrast photo of the weed form on the snow. This would be very Japanese in feel.

Alternatitively, draw back and make the bicycle the object so that the snow covered bicycle emphasizes the out-of-season impact of the bike.
