i like the reds and black, but i wouldn't have noticed the hat right away without the title. i like the space you've left around him. did you intend on the black being pure black or should i be able to see the hint of an arm and things in the background?

this is quite a fantastic scene. i like the colours, the cropping (maybe crop out that little thing under the blue railing?) and i love the way the light hits her arm and bracelets. what is that at her feet?

wow, that eye is attention grabbing--the "fur stole" and turkey skin can't even compete! i don't think i like the picture itself, but i'm drawn to the eye.

i love how the falls are an arc. the colours are pleasing--especially the variety in the stones and the gradiated rust to blue of the water. good shutter speed as well

nice colours--soft greens and dusty reds/pinks. i would like to see a balance in this image; it is almost like 2 different photos brought together halfway across the page. the brown rock on the left blends in with the water and doesn't balance the colour or sharp focus of the right side

this is a lovely photo. my suggestion to improve it would be to rotate it +1 degrees (clockwise), which would made the sidewalk a flat horizontal. i've recently discovered that almost every photo i take is skewwed this amount

this reminds me of my home town. the decision to frame the picture with the taller trees instead of leaving them out definitely results in a better image. i like the contrast of the jagged black trees against the soft pastel sky and horizon.

i think the contrast of the black background is fabulous. the contrasting similarities of the faces are quite lovely as well. for me the draw is her left eye. is the space to the left of the image there to centre the face? i think i would like it better with the same amount of black that is on the right side on the left, and maybe cropping the right side so that the edge of the scarf goes out of the frame. this would centre the doll's face, but also that left eye.

it remindes me of the "photo evidence" of the loch ness monster. the sea here is very choppy which gives it a grainy look. the blows are somewhat lost in the image--a slightly tighter crop on the left, bottom and right of the image may make the subject more visible.
sorry, but i don't seem to respond to this image in the same way that you do.

it's rather unfortunate that the steam obscures the middle ground, which is in focus. this image would be much better if the steam weren't blocking the scene.

i really enjoy this photo, but for me maybe it's a bit too low contrast? the whites are great but i think that if the branches where darker it would be a much more striking image. although then you would loose some of the effect of the hoar frost on the branches themselves...
compositionally i would like to see something a little more contrasty in the lower left of the image
this photo brings the story of the ice queen to mind. not only can i imagine a castle peaking out, but the dark and light contrast gives the effect of a shattered mirror, which is key in the story.

although i do think the symmetry is too much, i don't quite believe it's been ps'ed. i don't think the cropping works here because the bright yellow across the top draws the eye up and out of the image. you almost have to be consciously looking at the rest of the image to get the full effect, and it's not "that sort of image". the cropping you have here is sort of a natural choice because there is a frame within the image (the shell). the other cropping i could see working is right above the head, which keeps the face as more of a focal point.

i'd appreciate any comments anyone can give me. in particular, does
the slight diagonal (which should be a vertical) of the building
detract from the photo greatly?
-
i like the image, but a few detractions for me are the roughness (did you unsharpen mask in ps, because that looks to be the culprit) and the dark clouds in the top right corner draw the eye out of the image.

i can't get over the incredible colours that you've achieved. looking through your folder, i can't even pick out a favourite. you've very lucky to have such great photo opportunities, and very smart to take advantage. keep up the great work. you might want to set the turtle higher in the frame here, more space toward the bottom instead of even between bottom and top.
-
i really enjoy the soft tones and shadows you got here. there are a few problems i find with this picture though: the heel that is quite promenent and there isn't enough detail in the back (left side). also, the visible right corner of the table (?) is a little distracting, although the grain works well. all in all a promising shot, quite fixable with a few minutes in photoshop. easily my favourite from this folder

evil killer baby strikes again. the 2 expressions contrast too much. not much you can do about the baby, but the woman should have a more natural look to her. less posed, maybe eyes opened looking at baby, or mouth closed. and the woman's nose shouldn't be infront of the baby's mouth, it looks like he's trying to eat it.

perfect amount of black at bottom. don't change it at all

that's, uhh, lovely.....
great shot though, even though it looks as though the giraffe doesn't appreciate the camera. lol

i really like the idea, and i think this is the best because it's the hardest to see that it's plastic in. all these army men shots remind me of a photo called "war in suburbia" (don't remember who shot it) i found on here a while back. i couldn't find it again or i would have added a link, but you should check for it, it's really nicely done.

i'm canadian too. this photo is great because of the incredibly sharp colours. i love how the white, especially in the flag, contrasts with the other colours.
