excellent photo. love the composition and the stark contast of the water and rocks, as well as the bright red leaves.

her upturned face is lovely and the overall feeling of the image is delicate, contemplative and beautiful

i think i like this a little better. i would do something about that little line below her right eye though.

mini snowmen always strike me as hilarious. i like the dof, how there is a very unobtrusive person in the background who could very well be the creator of such a pair. if said person weren't wearing a red toque, you wouldn't be able to tell though. somehow it's comforting to know that a real human created something like this; it didn't just appear.

she is so beautiful and sad. i like the motion blur. her emotions would be too blatant, less felt, if she were perfectly clear.

this is beautiful. it is slightly melancholy and timeless. the post coming out of the guy's head is not as bad as it could be because the fog makes the post so much lighter.

the pose is graceful and the placement of the model in the frame is very interesting (good interesting). i like the overall effect of this high contrast image but there are a few spots that are lost because of it. for example, her right arm is outlined, but her right side is lost to the background until you reach her clothing. same for her wrist against her neck.
you're right though, this hgh contrast image really emphasizes her lovely eyes. this image is one of my favourite from your portraits folder.

i like being able to see some of the rock detail in the arch. also, i really like the way the woman's arm is infront of her. i wish that the silhouette of her legs were a little more clear though. her front leg especially is lost in the shadows.

you were right, it was a good idea. this looks very tim burton/nightmare before christmas to me. it's pretty rad. i like the fact that the light is differently coloured at different parts. i'm glad that the upper black is on a diagonal instead of dead horizontal, which would just chop up the photo instead of adding interest.
i can't tell if i like the light going outside the image (left edge) or the bottom of the image having the light blocked. part of me says "this is imperfect" but the other part says "if it were perfect it wouldn't have the same effect--it would be dull in its perfection". i would like to read other comments on this subject.
thanks for posting this image!

i have to admit, this is what a late summer evening sometimes looked like when i was a kid!
it gives the illusion of a lush winter paradise; lush because there are still leaves to fill out the trees, which makes it feel alive still. i'm a particular fan of the lilypads. they break up the reflection nicely and add interest.

good exposure, there is still some detail in the white snow. i like the placement of the cardinal and that there is something of interest to look at besides the bird. it's too bad that there is that little bit of snow covering the end of the tail though. otherwise, great picture
