i think it's interesting how the angle this was shot at has essentially erased the mountains from the reflection. it adds a little something extra that sets this photo apart from all the other landscapes-reflected-in-water photos.

i like how you've framed the building with the branches at the top. i love the sky colour also. it works so well with the rest of the colour (or lack of) in the photo. congratulations on this capture.

this is hilarious. i love it!
normally i would make some comment about how you should make the vertical lines in the background actually vertical. however, maybe in this photo it works to these lovely ladies' advantage. only in a world that is slightly off-kilter could the lower halves of women walk into stores unaccompanied. on the other hand, if you rotated the image -1 degrees, you'd be able to get rid of the dark gray windowframe (?) in the lower right corner without cutting off part of her hip.
i'm glad you went b/w with this shot. the background is present here, but doesn't overpower the 3 "women".

i had to clean my monitor to figure out if it was dust there or in the scan (or on the print) that was polluting the sky.
i really like this photo but i agree that it's not quite there. the tones make me think of a painting i loved once, but here, the colours are too subdued. i like that the background is all pastels, but they are too gray. same for the wood--i can easily imagine what it should look like, but when i shut off my imagination and use only my eyes, i am a bit disappointed. there is also something about the placement of the flying gull that worries me a bit...

i think the model is very poorly lit here, but i like the composition.

at first, it is hard to look at. but then, it's hard to look away.

i like the colours and the exposure.

the left portion of the photo has no information in it.

i would really like this picture if the 2 dogs were more easily distinguishable as 2 dogs, rather than one dog with lots of legs

i love the pose and the facial expression. i like the mood that the slight blur and grain add but i think that most people would agree that the blur is distracting when you look at her eyes. the face is so intimate that you feel like you're going to fall in love if you look deep into her eyes, but when you do they aren't clear.
don't do anything to change the contrast.

even though it is the hand and cigarette that are in focus, i find myself looking only at the face and background, as though the face is the subject and not the cigarette. i wonder if it's because the face is so often the subject in a portrait, or because it seems as though the hand and cigarette don't belong, just graffiti on the image. the perspective is a little sad, giving the man the look of a disfigured little boy and the blurred focus makes it seem that this is a photo taken sometime in the past and now mostly forgotten.
i'm sure that this wasn't your intention with the image

it's not that i don't like this, but it relies too heavily on the cuteness factor. it's technically a good photo, but i'm not sure why you decided on this particular colouring, other than to exaggerate the cuteness.

stuart,
this is probably my favourite--i have a 16x20inch of it at home (canada). i do wish that it could be sharper, but it was done with me standing on the piano bench with her and since i was so close as well as handheld, i had to use a wide aperture in macro mode. i sort of like the effect though as it's a little more moody than the situation really was (my two good friends trying to be brooding musicians, succeeding marvelously, then laughing at the effect)

great, dynamic pose. i love the space you used here and how dark the sky gets near the top. what i don't like is the sun's rays glaring over the rocks. other than the sun i think this is a lovely photo
(it is quite commercial looking and makes me think of those inspirational posters. if that's what you're going for though, awesome)

the little line of trees(?) below the sun bring a little interest to the immediate area and are something to look at other than just colour
