Moving On
Another discovery in my Home Territory. Elmwood Cemetary. Funny the things we take for granted in our own back yard. Inspiring Haunt for a walk with an Old Camera in an Old Man’s hands. Another chapter in the Moving On Album for review after I cross the Big River for the last time to Missouri. This is a wonderful place. These were taken with the little Canon G9X to post and pacify me until the film is developed.

Moving On
Returned this morning. Rained last night making for beautiful clear air. Funny how the place mirrors life in a way. Huge variety of monuments above ground, from the most humble little 6” cobblestone marking some unknown Confederate foot soldier, to a 30’ polished pink granite obelisk set by someone of means and social standing. But both cover the same dust, ash, and root both men reduced to.

Moving On
That’s the funny thing about my little excursions to this place this week. The reflections on Mortality renew an enthusiasm for Life. A peaceful joy of appreciation for what time I’ve had and the time I have left. I’m fast approaching some major transitions in life and it seems that I’ve needed to take a fresh compass reading. Get my new bearings so to speak, and this is a small part of that. Combine that with Fall color, renewed enthusiasm for old cameras, a lifelong love of History, and the move away to new pastures, and this past week seems to have fit the bill nicely. For me it is neither morbid nor morose, but strangely inspiring and motivational. Edited November 4, 2018 by Moving On
